The United States of America is home to huge numbers of surfers. For the purpose of our map we have split things up into 4 main regions. The East Coast, the West Coast, the Gulf Coast and the Great Lakes.
The East Coast is on the Atlantic and West Coast is on the Pacific. The USA is bordered to the North by Canada and to the South by Mexico. Hawaiiis also part of the United States, but is located in the Pacific (and gets its own surf map section).
The Capital of the United states is Washington DC, its largest city is New York. Its population is now over 300 million and it is home to some incredibly talented surfers.

Due to its size it is hard to summarise surfing in the United States. It gets swell from the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and even from the Great Lakes.
Water temperature varies dramatically travelling north to south. The further south you travel, the warmer the water will get.
The best surf is produced from October to March.
