Surf Dominican Republic - Quick Facts
LOCATION: Caribbean, Island called Hispaniola which it shares with Haiti
POPULATION: 10100000
NATIONALITY: Dominican
LANGUAGE: Spanish
CURRENCY: Dominican Peso

The Dominican Republic is bang in the middle of the Caribbean, and its location ensures a great climate, warm waves and a good consistent all year round swell. Like Barbados, winter is a great time for surf. At this time of year, the North picks up plenty of swell and gets good clean constant waves - essential for a great surfing adventure. The North Atlantic swells send waves down all year long.

It's capital, and largest city, is Santo Domingo. Keep an eye out for tropical storms. Hurricanes are most likely between August and October. Baseball (not surfing) is the countries most poular sport.

The island really is a beautiful place to visit and if you want a relaxing couple of weeks away, not spend too much money and get in some good surf then the Dominican Republic could be for you.
