FOOTBALL HISTORY
Known simply as football , it is usually considered to date from 1863, the year of
founding of The Football Association , although its origins, like those of the other
football codes , can be traced back several centuries, particularly in the British Isles
during the Middle Ages . Although there were points in common between different
ball games that developed since the 3rd century BC. C. and modern-day football,
the sport as it is known today has its origins in the British Isles .

The first British codes that gave rise to association football were characterized by
their little organization and extreme violence. However, there were also other less
violent and better organized codes: perhaps one of the best known was Calcio
Florentino , a very popular team sport in Italy that had an impact on the codes of
some British schools. The definitive formation of association football had its
culminating moment during the 19th century . In 1848, representatives from
different English schools met at the University of Cambridge to create the
Cambridge code , which would function as the basis for the creation of modern
football regulations. Finally, in 1863 in London, the first rules of association football
were made official.

Since then, football has had constant growth, becoming the most popular sport in
the world with some 270 million people involved. With the first meeting of the
International Football Association Board in 1886 and the founding of FIFA in 1904 ,
the sport has expanded to reach all corners of the world. Starting in 1930 , the
World Cup of Soccer would begin to be played, which would become the sporting
event with the largest audience on the planet.
Football has seventeen "laws of the game" that are governed by the International
Board. They apply both on a particular playing field and in the World Cup final.
Basically, in a match there must be two teams of 11 players who compete for the
ball on a rectangular playing field. The team that scores the most goals without
using their arms wins. A player's basic equipment consists of a shirt, shorts, socks,
shin guards and boots.
Some soccer rules:
The referee: the referee's decision is final. You can rectify it right after the action,
before resuming the game.

Duration of a match: A football match is played in two halves of 45 minutes with a

break of between 10 and 15 minutes. The time corresponding to pauses in play
caused by substitutions or injuries is added to each half.

Ball in play: the ball leaves the field of play when it crosses the baseline or
touchline, on the ground or in the air. It can be played when it bounces onto the
field of play after having touched the crossbar, the goal post, a corner flag or even
the referee.

Goals: a goal is considered when the ball completely crosses the goal line,
between the goal posts and below the crossbar, as long as no violation of the
game has occurred. The team that scores the most goals wins. If both teams score
the same number of goals or none at all, the match is considered tied.

Penalties: the maximum penalty (penalty) is when a player commits a foul in his
area. The ball is placed on the penalty spot. The goalkeeper remains on the goal
line. The other players must be outside the area. From the moment the ball is hit, it
is in play. Whoever takes the penalty cannot touch the ball again before another
player does.

The changes: Before the game, each team names a few substitute players. Their
number differs depending on the competition. Only three of the substitutes can
participate in the match, once the referee allows it.
THE POSITIONS

The goalkeeper
He is the only one who can touch the ball with his hands. He wears a different
piece of clothing to distinguish himself from the other players. Your objective: stop
or deflect the opponents' shots. Players who occupy this position must be agile to
be able to recover the balls with their hands or feet in different corners of the area.

The lateral defenders

They are located on the sides of the defense and must prevent the attackers from
passing this area.

The "stopper" and the "libero"

The stopper marks the opposing center forward: he prevents him from getting the
ball and progressing.

The libero is the last defender, he must intervene if a defender is eliminated by an

attacker.

Defensive midfielders
They are in charge of recovering the ball and their position is in front of the
defense.

The offensive midfielders

They distribute the game by giving balls to the forwards.

The second tip

He is the center forward's support: he rotates around the center forward to play the
ball and create chances.

The center forward

He is the player closest to the rival area: he must score the goals.

Alternates
Substitutes must be prepared to replace their teammates in case of injury, fatigue
or a change in tactics.
The referee: is in charge of applying the rules of the game. It has a whistle and
some cards (red and yellow) to sanction the players whenever necessary.

Playing field:
5.1 Playing surface: Matches can be played on natural or artificial surfaces, in
accordance with the competition regulations.

Dimensions: The playing field will be rectangular. The length of the touchline must
be greater than the length of the goal line.
Length: minimum 90 m. (100 yds), maximum 120 m. (130 yds)
Width: minimum 45 m. (50 yds), maximum 90 m. (100 yds)

Matches
International:
Length: minimum 100 m. (110 yds), maximum 110 m. (120 yds)
Width: minimum 64 m. (70 yds), maximum 75 m. (80 yds)
Land marking:
 The playing field will be marked with lines. These lines will belong to the areas
they demarcate.
 The two longest marking lines are called touch lines. The two most shorter are
called goal lines.
 All lines will have a width of 12 cm. at most.
 The playing field will be divided into two halves by a median line.
 The center of the field will be marked with a point in the middle of the halfway
line, around which a circle with a radius of 9.15 m will be drawn.
WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

Women's football has had slow growth in modern football, mainly thanks to the
sexist orientation of the sport. The first recorded women's match took place in 1895
in England . At the end of 1921, women's football was banned in England, which
did not allow it to expand to the rest of the world. It was not until 1969 that women's
football was organized again in England, which is why it began to expand outside
its territory. The first international match of women's football teams occurred in
1972 (coincidentally 100 years after the first men's match), where England beat
Scotland 3 to 2[]. The first world tournaments only began to be played in the 1990s:
the Women's Soccer World Cup from 1991, and as a sport in the Olympic Games
from 1996.
According to a survey carried out by FIFA, there are around 20 million female
players in the world, of which 80% are girls or adolescents . On average, for every
10 male soccer players, there is one female soccer player in the world[].
Development in Latin America :
Unlike Europe, the sexist nature of Latin American society and prostitution have
meant that the introduction of women's football is not as strong. Countries with a
soccer tradition, such as Argentina and Brazil, have developed strong women's
soccer leagues, while in others, such as Chile, a strong base is just being
established for the development of the activity. The regular performances of the
region's teams and FIFA's designation of Chile to host the 2008 U-20 Women's
Soccer World Cup are a timid sign of the growing interest in the activity.
BASIC FOOTBALL RULES

DURATION OF THE MATCH

According to soccer rules, each match is played in two 45-minute periods.

Changes in the duration of each period are made before the start of the match. As
we have seen, a break of between 10 and 15 minutes is maintained between both
periods.

START AND RESUME OF GAME

The game captains meet with the referee to decide which side of the field they will
play on. They draw it with a coin, the winner chooses the side.

SOCCER BALL

The rules of football indicate that the ball will be considered out of play when it
completely crosses the boundaries of the field by air or land, or; for the referee to
stop the game.

GOAL SCORE

The rules of football are very clear in denouncing a goal scored: when a ball
completely crosses the goal line between the vertical posts and under the crossbar
of the goal.
OFFSIDE

Offside is not an infraction in itself and no sanction can be received. Offside occurs
when a teammate gives a pass to another and the latter is: a) closer to the
opponent's goal line than the ball, b) closer to the opponent's goal line than the
penultimate opponent, c ) is in the opposing team's half of the field and d) the pass
received does not come from a goal kick, touchline or corner.

FAULTS

The free kick is given to the opposing team when the player commits a reckless
offense or excessive force such as: kicking the opponent, tripping or attempting to
trip the opponent, jumping on an opponent, charging at another player, hitting or
attempting to trip the opponent. hit the other, push. Likewise, when holding onto an
opponent, spitting, touching the ball with your hands, etc.

YELLOW AND RED CARD

The yellow card is shown to a player when he is cautioned and the red card when
he is sent off. The player is cautioned for: unsportsmanlike conduct, disapproving
orders, breaking the rules, delaying the resumption of the game, not respecting
distances, leaving and entering the field without permission. The expulsion occurs
when: there is violent conduct, spitting at another, impeding with the handballs a
goal, uses language or gestures in an offensive manner, receives a 2nd warning in
the match.

FREE SHOT

Free kicks are direct and indirect. For the free kick, the ball must be touched with
the foot while the first player is free and this player cannot touch the ball again
before another has done so. Opponents must be about 9 meters away.

PENALTY SHOT OR PENALTY

According to the rules of football, a penalty kick is scored when a player commits
an offense worthy of a direct free kick within his own penalty area. It will be
executed by a player from the opposing team.

SERVES
There are, as the rules of football indicate, a throw-in, a goal kick and a corner kick
that serve to restart the game from different places on the field as the names of the
kicks indicate.
