Using MARCEdit for MARC records

Using MARCEdit for MARC records. To open/use MARC records from Cambridge Core, we recommend you use MARCEdit.

To open/use MARC records from Cambridge Core, we recommend you use MARCEdit. If you do not already have MARCEdit, you can download the free software here .


Once MARCEdit is installed, you will need to do a character conversion:

1) Open MarcEdit
2) Go to Batch Process Records
3) Go to Character Conversions
4) Choose your ‘Source File’ - the file you wish to modify
5) Choose your ‘Destination File’ - create a new file
6) Select Original Encoding MARC8 and Final Encoding UTF8
7) Click ‘Process’ and a new file will be created with the correct coding.
