- Constantin Alexandrovich Westchiloff born Константин Александрович Вещилов / Konstantin Aleksandrovich Veschilov was a Russian-American artist known for portraits, genre scenes, landscapes, and seascapes. He was also an accomplished graphic artist and set designer. Death records for Westchloff indicate that he was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, 5 December 1878, and died 23 April 1945 in New York. Some sources, including Benezit Dictionary of Artists, list the date of birth for Westchiloff as 20 November 1877. Another source lists his date of birth as 15/28 May 1878. Another source lists his date of birth as 27 May 1878. Westchiloff latinized his name to Constantin A. Westchiloff in 1922, when he took residency in France. Westchiloff's cause of death was heart attack. He was buried 25 April 1945 in Mount Olivet Cemetery (Queens), in Maspeth, Queens, New York. One biographer has described Westchiloff as "an enigmatic character." (en)
- Constantin Alexandrovitch Vechtchilov (en russe : Константин Александрович Вещилов) est un peintre impressionniste russo-américain né à Saint-Pétersbourg le 27 mai 1878 et mort à New York le 4 avril 1945. (fr)

- "His favored medium was oil, which was well suited to his confident and strong technique. This in turn imbued his paintings of the rugged landscapes and seascapes of New England with the drama typical of this area." (en)
- "Veshchilov promised the ruins, but did not give them, or he gave them too timidly and carefully. Instead of titanic chaos, there is something supremely decent... The best thing in the picture is the marina. In fact, Veshchilov is a good landscape painter, and, really, his small piece 'Warm Night' displayed next to it is much more successful and better than Mary with Carthaginian ruins..." (en)
- "Westchiloff's canvases are fairly typical of the Russian school of artists in the pre-war period. Here are the historical illustrative quality, the high palette, the Ivan Fedorovich Choultsé-like light on snow, the emphasis on the picturesque. One or two — notably a bridge reflected in the water — may be recognized as revealing French influence. Technically, there is abundance of craftsmanship." (en)
- The seascapes "reveal Westchiloff's evident skill at rendering water and the atmosphere of the New England coast and undoubtedly derive from the tradition of seascape painting that was an important part of Russian academic training in the nineteenth century, when the artist was a student." (en)
- "M. Westchiloff's exhibition in a room on the first floor has had a great success from the first day and one of his works has been bought by the Duchess de Vendôme. Under the late Tsar, M. Westchiloff was the painter of the Russian Navy, but his country is the subject of only a small number of his works. He has a brilliantly colored palette and has obtained extremely seductive effects in his Almalfi and Capri landscapes." (en)
