Why Duterte must own up to the Philippines’ COVID-19 disaster

Mr.Rodrigo Duterte, the president of our country is the one that should be blamed
because of his decisions. All that happens is the consequences of what he did, even if it is good
or bad. This article talks about the bad situation of our country due to the poor leadership and
erratic authoritarian excess. This is titled, “Why Duterte must own up to the Philippines’
COVID-19 disaster”. It is composed by Richard Heydarian last August 14, 2020 17:00 JST.

The author stated how President Duterte manages the COVID-19 as regards to his
promise. It also contains facts about the economy of the Philippines and how it was affected. In
response to this pandemic, the country has been experienced lockdown to avoid the spreading of
virus. The implemented action did not really helped that much, considering that the country still
passed the numbers of cases of the most populations in the world. In regards to this, it only gives
a reason for the people to blame those results to the management of their country especially to
their president. Moreover, this article merely focuses to the mistakes and shortcomings of the
government the Filipinos have. At the end of it, the author included the real statement of Duterte
confidently hoping that by December this year, all that happens will be back to normal, for he
also states that he already has the vaccine all he need is for the people to be patient. The article
shows statements that are facts which contain a research result, which also help to convince the
readers. It also provides a true statement from the person who is the topic in the article, which
only proves that the content of the article is reliable. Despite all of the good aspects of this piece,
there are also bad aspects about it that slightly affect the output. Some of this bad aspect is the
lack of deeper explanations and examples which makes the work somewhat inadequate. The
other one is the lack citations of the sources of facts he got. The article is also a good claim for it
is specific, focused, interesting and engaging for the reason that it is a relevant which makes it
interesting to read. The topic is also not broad and it barely focused in one direction or outcome.
It is somewhat argumentative too since someone can raise any objections or disagreement. For
these reasons, it only manifests that this article is really a good catch regardless of its some
shortcomings. Some of the evidences are clearly stated in the entire text which is also a good part
in this article. The work also has a fine structure of thoughts for it follows the right pattern of
how it was written.
As what I have read, the author should indicate a deeper explanation of things because
someone can mistakenly misunderstand what he is trying to say. The author should also include
the respected sources where he got the facts. Furthermore, though this article contain evidences it
is best to give strong evidences to support the claim properly. I commend the author to change
some of the deep words in the article for the sake of other readers who does not have enough
knowledge about it. Instead he should replace it by those simple words to make it clear and
understandable for all. In general, though I am not a professional in this field still I am giving
my honest evaluation.
