- El Campionat del Món de sidecars, regulat per la FIM, és la màxima competició internacional de motociclisme de velocitat amb Sidecar. El títol es disputà com una categoria més del Campionat del Món de Motociclisme de velocitat fins al 1996, en format clàssic (les curses es corrien al mateix Gran Premi en què es corrien les d'altres categories, com ara 250cc, 500cc, etc.). Entre 1997 i 2000 s'instaurà una Copa del Món específica per als sidecars (Sidecar World Cup), passant a anomenar-se Superside entre 2001 i 2009. Aquest campionat obtingué el rang de Copa del Món de Superside (Superside World Cup) el 2004 i a partir de 2010 fou designat com a Campionat del Món de Sidecar (Sidecar World Championship). (ca)

- Le championnat du monde FIM de Sidecar (FIM Sidecar World Championship) est le championnat international de vitesse de side-car. Il a été renommé « Superside » lorsque les side-cars ont quitté le cadre des Grands Prix moto pour devenir une discipline de complément du championnat du monde de Superbike. En 2010 la Fédération internationale de motocyclisme (FIM) a repris l'organisation des courses et le championnat a été baptisé « Championnat du monde FIM de Sidecar ». Le championnat est disputé sur plusieurs épreuves, neuf en 2016, toutes en Europe: une en France (Le Mans), deux en Croatie (Grobnic),deux en Hongrie (Sárvár), deux en Allemagne (Oschersleben), une aux Pays-Bas (Assen) et une en Angleterre (Donington). Au cours des années, des courses ont également eu lieu aux États-Unis (Laguna Seca), en Afrique du Sud (Kyalami) et en Australie (Phillip Island). La manche du MotoGP 2010 au Sachsenring et du Bol d'or à Magny-Cours furent l'occasion de courses du championnat side-car. (fr)
- FIM Sidecar World Championship is the international sidecar racing championship. It is the only remaining original FIM road racing championship class that started in 1949. It was formerly named Superside when the sidecars moved from being part of Grand Prix Motorcycles racing to being support events for the Superbike World Championship. In 2010 the FIM took over the management of the series from the Superside promoters, and the championship was called "FIM Sidecar World Championship". However, the FIM still uses the word Superside for promotion purposes, despite the demise of the Superside promoters. The championship is raced over a number of rounds at circuits mainly in Europe, although other venues have been included in United States (Monterey), South Africa at Kyalami and Australia's Phillip Island. Het kampioenschap werd voorheen Superside genoemd, toen de zijspannen van de Grand Prix-wegrace onderdeel gingen uitmaken van het wereldkampioenschap superbike. In 2010 nam de FIM de organisatie van de klasse over van de Superside promotors, en heet het kampioenschap officieel FIM Sidecar World Championship.
