Ch27_Wks (3)

The document presents a series of probability problems involving coins, dice, cards, and balls, requiring calculations for various outcomes such as heads, tails, prime numbers, and specific card draws. It covers scenarios with different numbers of trials and types of objects, asking for the probability of specific events occurring. Each problem is structured to help understand the fundamentals of probability through practical examples.

Ch: 27: Probability

1. Two coins are tossed once. Find the probability of getting: (i) 2 heads, (ii) at least 1 tail.
(iii) at most 1 head (iv) no head.
2. Three different coins are tossed together. Find the probability of getting (i) exactly two heads (ii)
at least two heads (iii) at least two tails.
3. A fair die is rolled once. Find the probability of getting (i) 3 on the face of the die, (ii) an odd number
(iii) a number greater than 5. (iv) number is even? (v) number is greater than 2? (vi) a composite
number, (vii) a perfect square number, (viii) neither composite nor prime.
4. A die has 6 faces marked by the given number as: 1, 2, 3, -1, -2, -3. The die is thrown once. What is
the probability of getting (i) a positive integer, (ii) an integer greater than 3, (iii) the smallest integer
5. Two dice are rolled together. Find the probability of getting: (i) a total of at least 10. (ii) a multiple of
2 on one die and an odd number on the other die. (iii) prime number on both dice. (iv) product of the
two numbers on the top of the dice is 6. (v) doublets so that their sum is multiple of 3.
(vi) the product is less than 9, (vii) that the product is a perfect cube.
6. Cards marked with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4….,20 are well shuffled and a card is drawn at random. What is
the probability that the number on the card is (i) a prime number? (ii) divisible by 3? (iii) a perfect
square?
7. A game of number has cards marked with 11, 12, 13, ……,40. A card is drawn at random. Find the
probability that the ball drawn is: (i) A perfect square (ii) Divisible by 7.
8. Sixteen cards are labelled as a, b, c…. m, n, o, p. They are put in a box and shuffled. A boy is asked to
drive a card from the box. What is the probability that the card drawn is : (i) a vowel, (ii) a
consonant, (iii) none of the letters of the word median.
9. An integer is chosen at random from 1 to 50. Find the probability that the number is:
(i) divisible by 5 (ii) a perfect cube (iii) a prime number.
10. Cards numbered from 11 to 60 are kept in a box. If a card is drawn at random from the box, find the
probability that the number on the drawn card is (i) an odd number (ii) a perfect square number. (iii)
divisible by 5. (iv) a prime number less than 20
11. A bag contains 5 white balls, 6 red balls and 9 green balls. A ball is drawn at random from the bag.
Find the probability that the ball drawn is: (i) a green ball, (ii) a white or a red ball, (iii) is neither a
green ball nor a white ball.
12. A box contains some black balls and 30 white balls. If the probability of drawing a black ball is two-
fifth of a white ball, find the number of black balls in the box. A bag contains 18 balls out of which x
balls are red. (i) if one ball is drawn at random from the bag. What is the probability that it is not red?
(ii) if two more red balls are put in the bag, the probability of drawing a red ball will be 9/8 times the
probability of drawing a red ball in the first. Find the value of x.
13. From a pack of 52 playing cards all cards whose numbers are multiples of 3 are removed. A card is
now drawn at random. What is the probability that the card drawn is
(i) a face card (King, Jack or Queen) ? (ii) an even numbered red card.
14. One card is drawn at random from a well shuffled deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of drawing (i)
an ace (ii) a black queen (iii) a jack of spades (iv) a 10 of hearts (v) a face card (vi) a 5 of a red suit.
15. All the black face cards are removed from a pack of 52 playing cards. The remaining cards are well
shuffled and then a card is drawn at random. Find the probability of getting a (i) face card (ii) red card
(iii) black card (iv) king
16. What is the probability of getting 53 Sundays in a year if it is a (i) leap year (ii) non leap year.
