1. This paper consists of section A, B and C with total eleven (11) questions.
2. Answer all questions in section A and B and two (2) questions from section C.
3. Section A caries sixteen (16) marks, section B fifty- four (54) marks and section C
Carries thirty (30) marks.
4. Cellular phones and any unauthorized materials are not allowed in the examination room.
5. All drawings should be in pencil.
6. Write your Examination Number on every page of your answer booklet(s).

SECTION A (20 Marks)
Answer all questions in this section.

4. Briefly, answer each of the following questions.


(a) Outline three (3) forms of rents in feudal system.
(b) Explain three (3) contribution of welfare associations toward African nationalism.
(c) Outline three (3) stages through which capitalism has developed.

5. Arrange the following statements in a chronological order by writing number 1 to 6 beside the item
number in your answer booklet.

7. In reaction to the imposition of colonial invasion in Africa, some African societies joined the Europeans
to fight against their fellow Africans.

(b) Provide three examples of that form of reaction mentioned in (i).
(c) Why societies mentioned in (ii) used a form of reaction mentioned in (i) and not any other? Give
four reasons.

Answer two (2) questions from this section.
9. The rise and development of precolonial African states was not like thunderstorm in a blue sky.
Justify this statement by giving six (6) prerequisites for state formation.

10. How colonial governments did to ensure that the colonies have sufficient labours? Explain by giving six
(6) points.

11. Imperial powers used African colonies as a ground to revamp their economy destroyed by The Great
Depression. Substantiate this statement by giving six (6) measures introduced in Africa to alleviate
impacts of the Great Depression in capitalist powers.
