Jesus Christ is inseparably true God and true man in the. unity of his divine
Person.
The divine and human natures of Jesus Christ are “hypostatically” united,
that is, they joined to each other in one divine Person, Jesus Christ, the
second Person of the eternal and Most Blessed Trinity.
The Church thus confesses that Jesus is inseparably true God and true
man. He is truly the Son of God who, without ceasing to be God and Lord,
became a man and our brother.

God the Son died according to his human nature but did not cease to exist. As with any human death,
his body was separated from his soul/spirit, but his soul/spirit did not cease to exist
Many of us are confused with whether or not God died FIGURATIVELY or LITERALLY?
The CBCP has already clarified this issue that GOD REALLY DIED, NOT FIGURATIVELY BUT LITERALLY.

We were taught to listen to the magisterium but why has this expression of faith drew so much
attention and opposition despite its clarity? Because only a few understood the wisdom of the
magisterium.
So, let me explain this issue.
Q. Did God really die?
A. Yes. "God died" is an expression of faith. This is the clarification of the magisterium.
Q. Isn't this heretical?

A. Why would it be when it is already as clear as distilled drinking water? It's just like this. We should
always remember that Jesus has two natures: (1) TRUE GOD; (2) TRUE MAN. Since these two are innate,
thus these are not separate (but distinct). So, how did God die? No, not a correct question. This
correlated with question on whether Jesus is God.
A 1.1. Yes. Jesus is God, we've explained this a million times so, I won't waste my time re-explaining
something that's been proved hundreds of years ago.

Q. If Jesus died in his humanity, did Humanity die?
A. It's erroneous. When we say Jesus died in his humanity, it is wrong to say that only the humanity died.
HUMANITY PER SE did not die. It was Jesus, the Second Person, a DIVINE PERSON who died in his
HUMAN NATURE. What's difficult to understand there? If a person dies, he dies as a HUMAN PERSON,
Humanity per se does not die when a HUMAN PERSON dies.
Q. The two natures were not separate. So if Jesus died, did divinity also die?
A. Another erroneous question.

mamatay ang usa ka tawo, mamatay siya isip TAWO, Humanity per se dili mamatay kung mamatay ang
TAWO.
P. Ang duha ka kinaiyahan wala magkabulag. Busa kon si Jesus namatay, ang pagka-Dios namatay usab?
A. Laing sayop nga pangutana.

No. Indeed these are not separate because we cannot say that Jesus 1.1 is a human and Jesus 2.2 is
divine. Jesus is both MAN and DIVINE. But Jesus is not a human person; He is only one person, that is, a
divine person. Same with humanity, when that divine person died it did not mean that the DIVINITY
DIED because DIVINITY DOES NOT AND WILL NEVER DIE. The second person died but the Father and the
Holy Spirit are still there. Thus DIVINITY PER SE did not die. Come to think of it, if divinity died together
with the divine person then, there would be no resurrection.
Let's make this clearer.

When Jesus walked on the waters, we say "Lord God (Diyos) Jesus walked on the waters" and not "Jesus'
DIVINITY (pagkaDiyos) walked on the waters"
When Jesus ate, we say "the MAN (TAO) Jesus ate" and not "Jesus' HUMANITY or HUMAN NATURE
(PAGKATAO) ate
It's not the DIVINITY that walked on waters but GOD himself.
Who walked on the waters? God? What made God walk on waters? His divinity.
It's not Jesus' humanity or human nature that ate but the man in the person of Jesus.
Who ate? The man in the person of Jesus. What made Him eat? His human nature.
It was the STATE that enabled Jesus to walk on waters and eat. What was Jesus' state? The State of
being divine (divinity) and the state of being human (humanity or human nature)
It was the man and God Jesus who walked on waters and eat.
Divinity does not reside with one person only, it resides in the 3 divine persons of the Blessed Trinity.
I would like to reiterate,
Jesus died
Jesus is God
Thus, God died.
