Course Title : COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING NCII

Nominal Duration : 280 HRS

Course Description : This unit covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes
required to gather, interpret and convey information in
response to workplace requirements.

Entry Requirements : Trainees or students wishing to gain entry into this course
should possess the following requirements:
 Can communicate either oral and written;
 Must pass the trainability/aptitude test.
This list does not include specific institutional
requirements such as educational attainment,
appropriate work experience, and others that may be
required of the trainees by the school or training center
delivering the TVET program.

UNIT OF COMPETENCY : INSTALL AND CONFIGURE COMPUTER SYSTEMS
UNIT MODULE : INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING COMPUTER
SYSTEMS

MODULE DESCRIPTOR : This unit covers the outcomes required in installing and
configuring desktop and workstation computers systems. It
consists of competencies to assemble computer hardware,
install operating system and drivers for peripherals/devices,
and install application software as well as to conduct testing
and documentation.

NOMINAL DURATION : 40 Hours

QUALIFICATION LEVEL : NC II

SUMMARY OF LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Upon completion of this module, students/trainees will be able to:

LO1. assemble computer hardware;


LO2. prepare installers;
LO3. install operating systems and drivers for peripherals/devices;
LO4. install application software; and
LO5. conduct testing and documentation.

LO1. ASSEMBLE COMPUTER HARDWARE

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1.1 Unit assembly is planned and prepared to ensure OH & S policies and procedures are
instructor. followed according to system requirements.
1.2 Materials necessary to complete the computer system installation are identified,
obtained, and tested according to the established procedures in line with the system
requirements.
1.3 Tools, equipment and testing devices needed to carry out the installation work are
obtained in accordance with established procedures and checked for correct operation
and safety
1.4 Computer hardware is assembled in accordance with established procedures and
systems requirements
1.5 Basic-input-output-system (BIOS) configuration is performed in accordance with
hardware requirements.
