FIELD STUDY 1
Environment
At the end of the activity, the FS students should be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:
1. observe and assess various classroom management strategies that enhances learning;
2. distinguish the features of a school environment that is safe, secure and conducive for learning; and
3. design a school environment that is safe, secure and supportive to learning.
LEARNING OVERVIEW
This activity will include classroom observation and interview with teachers and school personnel in
charge of the physical plant and/or flash back of their previous school environment. Their exposure to various
school settings will enable them to generate or illustrate their ideal school environment that is safe, secure and
conducive for learning.
My Observation
Directions: Read the following carefully before you accomplished different task in this portfolio.
1. Reminisce your previous school environment or download and/or view available school perspectives,
elementary or high school, rural or urban, local or international.
2. Observe a class and note the different management strategies used by the teacher. Follow classroom
etiquette while observing various classroom activities.

Questions:
For me, the computer laboratory is the most useful for students to enhance and develop their learning because
this facility can equip them with skills needed for the 21 st century. It does not only help them accomplish their
projects, homework, and assignments, but they can also enhance and improve their knowledge about computer
technology for wider use. Furthermore, it teaches digital literacy skills like internet safety and cybersecurity. In
summary, a computer laboratory is valuable for students in terms of computer access, diverse learning
opportunities, collaboration, career preparation, and essential digital literacy skills.
For me, all of the facilities are used effectively by both the students and the teachers, which
means that all of those are useful and beneficial to everyone. Without one of each, the
learning environment will not be as conducive and effective as it is.

3. Are there other facilities you observed/remembered that are not stated above? If yes, list them below.
As I observed in School, I do not remember any other existing facilities that aren’t stated above.
The Bayambang Central School is located along Gomez Road in Bayambang Pangasinan. As I observed
its environment, I usually see parents scattered within the school. Some parents are waiting beside
classrooms, and some are eating with their children. These make me conclude that the community
prioritizes and supports learning and education of the learner, which I think is a very important factor in
the development of the child because for me, a student that is surrounded by a supportive environment
is a student that values learning and develop successfully.
In the community of Bayambang Central School, the facilities that are found that aid learning are the library and
computer laboratory. These two are used for supplementing the learners’ knowledge while enhancing their skills
in information and literacy. Both of these facilities help students to evaluate information that they gather from their
sources. These spaces help students to conduct research, gather information, work together, concentrate on their

1. What are the classroom management strategy(ies) that you have observed?
Based on my observation, Sir Ronnie, our cooperating teacher, used effective strategies in managing the
classroom such as establishing clear rules and expectations, creating a positive classroom culture, using
positive reinforcement, using consequences consistently, managing classroom transitions, providing
feedback, and using technology wisely, which made his delivery of instruction successful. These strategies
also helped the students feel values, respected, and motivated to learn.
The management strategies were utilized by teacher Ronnie from the very start up to the end of his
delivery of instruction. Before the lesson, he reminded the students about his rules and expectations of the
class, he also reminded them of his authority and role. In the motivation, presentation, and delivery of the
lesson, he assures that he gives feedback to students who perform well in his class. He also manages the
transition of the lesson in a smooth way, and he was able to use technology wisely. These strategies were
seen in the whole parts of his lesson.
3. What management strategy did the teacher utilize to keep the learning environment safe and conducive?
Teacher Ronnie keeps the learning environment safe and conducive by employing the strategy of establishing
clear rules and expectations. This entails communicating guidelines for behavior, academic performance, and
safety early in the school year. According to him, he rules should be fair, reasonable, and consistently enforced to
prevent misunderstandings and instill a sense of order and predictability in the classroom. Creating such an
environment enables students to focus on academic goals, build confidence, and cultivate a love for learning.

My Analysis
The usefulness of a facility is determined by factors such as meeting specific needs, quality, accessibility, cost, and
purpose. A facility is more likely to be considered useful if it effectively addresses a particular need, is of high quality,
easily accessible, reasonably priced, and designed for its intended purpose. Conversely, outdated or costly facilities
with unclear purposes may be deemed less useful.
When do you say that a facility aids learning? Cite some instances.
A facility can aid learning in various ways, including well-equipped classrooms, science laboratories, libraries,
computer laboratories, art studios, outdoor spaces, athletic facilities, multi-purpose spaces, auditoriums and
performance spaces, and specialized facilities for vocational training. Each facility should be designed and equipped
to meet the specific educational objectives and goals of the students and teachers, providing resources, tools, and an
environment conducive to active and engaged learning.
A conducive learning environment impacts learners by improving attention, concentration, and retention of
information. An inspiring and visually appealing space enhances motivation and engagement, leading to increased
effort and persistence in learning. Collaborative learning spaces foster social skills and teamwork, while comfortable
environments reduce physical discomfort and distractions. Additionally, easily accessible locations contribute to
convenience and attendance. A favorable learning environment also positively influences learners' engagement,
retention, and overall learning outcomes.

4 What kind of classroom management is conducive to learning?
To establish a conducive learning environment, teachers should employ effective classroom management strategies.
8
This includes clearly communicating expectations, maintaining consistency in rule enforcement, utilizing positive
reinforcement, actively listening to students, encouraging collaboration, managing distractions, and providing timely
feedback. These strategies contribute to students' understanding of expectations, enhance confidence and
motivation, foster positivity in the learning environment, and develop crucial skills like social, teamwork, and
communication skills.
My Reflection
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed/remembered? Why or why
not?
Yes, I would love to teacher in a school environment I just observed, not only because I am
impressed and overwhelmed by the loving personality of the learners, but also because I see the
challenge that I might face in dealing with learners with various interests, background, and behavior. I
am also impressed on how teacher Ronnie come-up with an effective strategy that he was able to
utilized successfully in a classroom with diversity.
I am also challenged by the strategies I might used in the future to create an environment that is safe
and conducive for my future learners.
2. If you are the teacher, how can you make the environment more conducive to learning?
If I am the teacher, I can make the environment more conducive to learning by implementing
strategies such as fostering a positive classroom culture, setting clear expectations, using diverse
teaching methods, encouraging student ownership and engagement, promoting critical thinking,
utilizing formative assessments, providing regular feedback, promoting physical health, creating an
organized and visually appealing classroom, and effectively using technology to enhance learning
experiences and facilitate collaboration.
These strategies may help my students feel valued and respected, understand what is expected of
them, cater to different learning styles, promote student engagement and responsibility, develop
cognitive skills, monitor student progress, provide feedback, minimize distractions, promote physical
well-being, and provide access to a wide range of resources at different levels of ability.
