· How can I bypass Meridian TTY lockout ?

On most Meridians, If you get the TTY login wrong 3 times then you will be logged out on that TTY
until the time out period ends (Usually 30 minutes).

However, if you are using "Named" login & you have the PWD2 passcode. You can still login
without having to wait for the timeout period to end.

This will only work with the login names option enabled.

· How do I program to dial out without 9 (or 0) ?

A good place to start is GHTrout's website. GH suggests you can use pretranslation, so every
number you dial will be dialled with a 9 in front. Problem is of course that you cannot dial internal
numbers that start with a 9 this way ...

Check out the page at :

http://home.wi.rr.com/coilcord/ght/files/Dial_Out_Without_9.html

· How do I add a Phantom number ?

First, make sure you have programmed a superloop. Do this by using LD 97 :

LD 97

REQ prt
TYPE supl
SUPL

Now you see a list of all cards that are programmed. I assume you have R 24 or above. If so, your
Phantom cards are somewhere between 61 and 80. If you don't see them in the list, add a
superloop as following :

LD 97

REQ chg (!!!)

TYPE supl
SUPL N96

Yes, you do have to use CHG, since LD 97 doesn't provide NEW as command. By adding a 'N' in
front of the loopnumber, you ADD a loop. The mapping of loopnumbers and TN's for R24 or above
is :

Ph loop 96 --> TN 61-0 through 64-15

Ph loop 100 --> TN 65-0 through 68-15
Ph loop 104 --> TN 69-0 through 72-15
Ph loop 108 --> TN 73-0 through 76-15
Ph loop 112 --> TN 77-0 through 80-15

By adding superloop 96 you have created TNs 61-0 through 64-15. Now you can go into LD 20
and add 500 sets at will. Remember, if you use MAT you have to add these cards in the
configuration. If you use OTM this isn't necessary.

· How do I change serial TTY port options ?

First, print the current setup :

LD 22

REQ prt
TYPE cfn

The port you are looking for should look something like this :

ADAN TTY 1
TTY_TYPE SDI
CAB 00
CARD 00
PORT 1
DES
BPS 9600
BITL 8
STOP 1
PARY none
FLOW no
USER TRF SCH
TTYLOG 0
BANR yes

Now, go to LD 17 :

LD 17

REQ chg
TYPE adan
ADAN chg tty 1

The USER prompt is where you define what this port should do. To eliminate one of the options,
use an X :

USER xtrf

Doing this, the user prompt from the previous example will look like this in LD22 :

USER SCH

· How to disable or enable a serial TTY com port ?

LD 37
.stat

Look for the TTY port

.dis TTY x

where x is the number of the TTY port

or

.enl TTY x

TSPForum FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Category: Main -> Meridian Mail

Question
· MM 'down' when backup tape is inserted ?
· DTMF tones for handling Mail don't work when speaker is on ?

Answer
· MM 'down' when backup tape is inserted ?

When a backup tape is in your drive, and your PBX goes down and back up, it appears that your
MM doesn't come back up.
This behaviour is normal, since the Meridian Mail tries to boot from tape if a tape is present.

You can speed things up if you eject the tape during this process. MM will boot back from disk.
A tip that I read is to just let it boot, and make good use of the time. Check in LD 2 if the
system time is set correctly, and check in LD 48 if the link is up. If you do this, MM will boot a lot
smoother.
You can check any error messages afterwards by going into 'System status and Maintenance' -
'System Events and Error Reports' (SEER)

· DTMF tones for handling Mail don't work when speaker is on ?

Users are having problems accessing their voice mail boxes from their 3904 sets while on
speaker. It works fine if the user enters the digits very slowly but if they enter them at a normal
or fast pace it doesn't seem to recognize them. It only happens while on speaker. If they are on
the the handset it works just fine.

Voice mail systems respond to DTMF tones. They don't care what generates them. It might be
(and probably is) music playing in the background, because it's tone-rich.
In some cases, it might even be a frequency hit by a person's voice. Women generally have
higher pitched voices than men and more frequently duplicate tones that are associated with VM
commands.
Press the mute 'on' or turn off any radio nearby.
