System Integration& Architecture

System integration and architecture ties together heterogeneous systems and platforms to streamline communication within an organization and with external partners. It helps organizations access and share data in real time to make better business decisions. An integrated architecture combines different IT components like applications and databases. System integration is the process of integrating physical and virtual components like hardware, software, and data. Examples include combining separate accounting, web analytics, and CRM systems. The course covers analyzing insourcing and outsourcing decisions, implementing middleware platforms, and designing stress tests to evaluate system performance under heavy loads. It aims to teach strategies and techniques for effective system integration solutions.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION & ARCHITECTURE

Systems Integration Architecture provides a bridge between the heterogeneous operational applications

and platforms. This architecture ties together the mix of platforms, operating systems, transports, and
applications.
What is system integration and architecture 1 course description?
The course is focused on concepts in enterprise architecture and application integration. It describes data,
application, and technology needed to create business solutions for organizations.
What is the role of system integration and architecture in organization?
The goal of system integration is to streamline and simplify communication between not only the
organization's internal systems but also the third parties the organization works with. System integration
helps accelerate the outflow of information and cut back on operational costs.
What is the meaning of integration architecture?
Integration architecture is comprised of structures which allow for the interoperability of different IT
components. Modern application architecture means that companies use a wide variety of applications that
perform tasks and contribute data.
How important is system integration and architecture in your life?
The more tools you have, the harder a security system is to manage and to install.  An integrated
architecture enables an enterprise to make better, educated business decisions because it has access to
its data in real time.

System Integration is the process of integrating all the physical and virtual components of an organisation's
system. The physical components consist of the various machine systems, computer hardware, inventory,
etc. The virtual components consists of data stored in databases, software and applications.
What is an example of system integration?

An example of star integration is if a company segments its processes. A separate accounting system
would track finances; a web analytics system manages website traffic, and a customer resource
management (CRM) system would integrate Salesforce. Data from each system could be pulled and
combined as needed.

 COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course shall focus on the process of integrating different systems & software applications by examining
the current & emerging trends, strategies, & techniques for developing systems integration solutions
effectively.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this course student should be able to
LO1. Analyze appropriateness of a decision to in-source or out-source IT services in a given situation.
Insourcing can help you build long-term resources within your organization. On the other hand, outsourcing
can help you cut costs and finish your projects on a short deadline . However, both these sourcing choices
have their set of limitations. The costs of headhunting and training can make insourcing challenging.
What is insourcing or outsourcing decision?

Outsourcing is the process of hiring an outside organization that is not affiliated with the company to
complete specific tasks. Insourcing, on the other hand, is a business practice performed within the
operational infrastructure of the organization.

LO2. Create a testing environment and design a stress test using appropriate tools & techniques that
impact system performance.
Stress testing is a technique to test a system's performance under extreme conditions. For example,  a
website handling a huge number of users at once might be overloaded by mimicking a sudden increase in
traffic. So, it's crucial to run stress tests to evaluate the website's robustness under heavy loads.
What is stress testing used for?
Stress testing is a form of deliberately intense or thorough testing, used to determine the stability of a given
system, critical infrastructure or entity. It involves testing beyond normal operational capacity, often to a
breaking point, in order to observe the results.

LO3. Implement an enterprise integration middleware platform.

What is enterprise integration middleware platform?
Enterprise middleware connects software components or enterprise applications. It is the layer of software
between the operating system and the applications on either side of a computer network, usually
supporting complex, distributed business software applications.
Common middleware examples include database middleware, application server middleware, message-
oriented middleware, web middleware, and transaction-processing monitors.
