Portfolio Day is considered a culminating resources

activities/performances wherein at the end of every quarter, schools
are encouraged to put up exhibits of student products across subjects
or learning areas. Learners may also do an exhibition of their
performances in different subjects as evidences of their learning or
attainment of performance standards. Thus when parents receive the
report card and confer with teachers they will actually be witnessing
what the students are learning in school.

This is an opportunity to showcase what the students learned

within a quarter.

Program Description

 To conduct a parent-teacher adviser conference for

feedbacking of students’ performance
 To showcase the different outputs made by the students for
the 1st quarter through an exhibit

Objectives

On August 17, 2019, the Granja-Kalinawan National High

Brief Narrative School has joined the nationwide conduct of the Portfolio Day for
the 1st quarter, school year 2019-2020.

A day before the conduct of the said activity, the different

department prepared the exhibit area where they displayed their
different students’ output.

The activity started at 7:00 am for the registration of the parents

which was done per adviser. However, due to loss of electricity, the
program proper which was supposed to start at 8:00 was moved to
9:00 am. After a prayer and the Philippine National Anthem, the
school principal, Mr. Nicerato P. Gonzaga, Jr gave his welcoming
message. This was followed by the ribbon cutting for the exhibit or
showcase of students’ outputs headed by the school heads, GPTA
President and the department heads. The Jaro-II District Supervisor,
Mrs. Yolanda P. Gonzaga, also gave her message both to the parents
and to the students.

This school year, the GKNHS opened their SPA Theater Arts
program and to showcase the talent of their students in singing and
acting, they have prepared a special intermission number coached by
Mr. Roldan Morfe. After their first performance was the highlight of
the program which was the awarding of certificates for academic
awardees. An inspirational message was also shared by Mrs. Lenivit
Caones, the GPTA president.

Second part of the program followed as the parents proceeded to

their respective rooms for the PTA meeting. Parents were able to
monitor their child’s performance as they were distributed the report
cards. Other matters regarding the classroom were also discussed
during the conduct of the meeting.

The third and last part of the half-day activity was the viewing of
portfolio display. Everyone was given the chance to take a look at
the different outputs made by the students in every subject areas.

This school year’s first portfolio day has been a success through
the help and effort of all students and personnel of the GKNHS.

One of the problems encountered in the activity was that, not all
Challenges Encountered parents were able to attend. Only few attended the parent-teacher
conference, making it hard for the adviser to open up some matters.
Another problem encountered was the loss of electricity, causing the
delay of the program.

I suggest that parents should be more cooperative and should be

more attentive to the needs of their children. They should also give
Suggestions time to monitor their child’s performance in school.
