Right Triangle
Date: MONDAY
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of triangle
similarity.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to investigate, analyze, and solve problems involving
triangle and similarity through appropriate and accurate representation.
C. Learning Competencies/ At the end of the lesson, at least 80% of the students with at least 80%
Objectives/ Write the LC proficiency should be able to:
Code for each 1. define and illustrate right triangle similarity theorem (M9GE-IIIg-1),
2. find the measure of the missing length of a right triangle applying the
theorem,
3. solve problems applying the right triangle similarity theorem,
4. participate actively and work cooperatively in group.
II. Content Right Triangle Similarity Theorem

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson Checking of assignments:
or presenting the new lesson (MATH TIME NO. 3 pp. 53 Letter B #2)
7
a) x

b) AX 8
c) x 8
d) AD 15
e) AY 10
B. Establishing a purpose and Eye Catcher
Presentation of the lesson The class will be divided into five groups.
Five pictures will be display on the board including the original picture. Each
group will choose from the four picture which is similar to the original
picture. They will write their answer in the show me board and those group
who are noisy will have a deduction of their score. A point will be rewarded
to each group for every correct answer.
C. Discussing new concepts Unlocking of words:
and practicing new skills They will encounter the following words while the lesson is going on.
Hypotenuse – it is the longest side of a triangle.
Legs – the legs of the triangle are the longer leg and the shorter leg.
Geometric Mean – the geometric mean of two numbers is the square root of
their product.
Conclusion:
Geometric mean formula:
AD CD BD
AC BC CD
AB BC BD
Solutions:
BC x DC y DC z
x BD y BD z BC
b. x 2 BC BD , y 2 DC BD , z 2 DC BC
x 15 5 y 5 10 z 10 15
x5 3 y5 2 z5 6
Solutions:
DC y
BC
x
x BD BC DC BD y BD
x 2 BC BD , 20 DC 5 , y 2 DC BD
x 20 5 DC 15 y 15 5
x 10 y5 3
DC z
z BC
z 2 DC BC
z 15 20
z 10 3
D. Developing mastery Group Quiz Bee: Aim the Golden Star
(Leads to Formative The class will be divided into five groups. The quiz has two categories;
Assessment 3) (A)corresponding sides and (B)measurements. The quiz is a multiple choice
and they will answer per question in category A for 5 seconds and 15
seconds for category B. Those group who got the highest score will receive
the golden star.
2. At the parking lot of Burger king, the 35.78km to the coffee shop
and the path to the savemore market meet a right angle. Erza
walks straight (north east) from savemore to a mercury drug
store with a distance of 8km and she go back to the coffee shop
from mercury drug store which cover a distance of 16km. The
distance from Burger King to the mercury drugstore is 32km.
How far is Erza from coffee shop to savemore market?
G. Additional activities for Assignments:
application or remediation Solve the following problems.
1. ABC is a right triangle. BD is the altitude to the hypotenuse AB .
If BD=12 and AD=9, find BC.
2. Given a ABC with BD the altitude to the hypotenuse, if
BD x 1 , AD x 2 , BC 12 , DC 3x 3 . Find the
perimeter and the area of ABC .
