Growing up circa 1980, a misfit high-school student and his pals are probably destined to become new media millionaires, but right now they're stuck in school, where all the girls are a foot taller and bullies terrorize the gym class. Meanwhile, his older sister is flirting with the dope-smoking bad boys, cutting classes and questioning the point of getting good grades.

John Doyle Globe and Mail The series is funny, humane, deadpan and realistic. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Chris Taylor Daily Telegraph (UK) During its short but perfectly formed run, it forced its audience to laugh through the awkwardness of adolescence. Oct 23, 2018 Full Review Carli Velocci TheWrap It's worth watching just to see baby versions of people like James Franco, Jason Siegel, Seth Rogan, Busy Phillips, and others, but it's also a genuine take on high school and the constant need to feel like you belong. Jun 29, 2018 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It’s compassionate without losing itself in sentimentality and understanding of the crises that drive these kids to their often self-destructive behavior without letting them off the hook for their decisions. Sep 9, 2023 Full Review Ben Lindbergh The Ringer Freaks reminds us that we're often closest to our true selves when we're alone and not performing for our peers, particularly during our painfully self-conscious teen years. Aug 7, 2018 Full Review Joshua Tyler CinemaBlend It's hard to sum up an entire season of incredible television in just a few words, but Freaks and Geeks turns out to be every bit as groundbreaking and wonderful as we all heard. Christopher H Classic story, classic cast - sadly a single season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/04/24 Full Review Daniel W I loved this series a few episode can feel out of place like when Jason segel is dancing to 70s disco but I like the three nerdy kids and their dynamic with their bully made in the 90s but defo has that 80s vibe a must watch for people that like 80s culture. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Bec C Such a sweet and nostalgic show.
