All Critics (26) | Top Critics (10) | Fresh (25) | Rotten (1)
Set against today's plethora of bleak and grim horror shows, Ash vs Evil Dead feels remarkably fresh and different, despite its relatively ancient origins.

Mr. Campbell plays Ash with just the right mix of bravado masking insecurity and, as always, he's hilarious to watch. The pilot's script... also pushes comedy as much as it emphasizes blood-soaked fights.

If the one complaint is that the world caught up with Raimi's tastes, then that's hardly a complaint at all.

With Ash vs. Evil Dead, [Starz] earns a label it's never had before: hip.

Beyond the camp of the films, and well into the comedy, this remake is soaked in blood, one-liners, chain saws, and evil dead people. Of course it's good.

You've never seen Evil Dead look as glorious as this, without a doubt, but that doesn't mean it's pretty.
