Football has been played at St James' Park since 1880 but today's stadium is unrecognisable from the Victorian original with its spectacular glass cantilever roofs and 52,300 capacity

The giant Sir John Hall and Milburn stands, which wrap around two corners of the ground now lay claim to be the largest cantilever structure in Europe.

Fully opened in 2000, the Sir John Hall Stand has a spectacular glazed steel roof with precast concrete floors, stairs and terrace units with a steel truss cantilever roof, matching the adjoining Milburn Stand (West Stand). Together they cost £42M.
