On July 28, 2006, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice announced its decision in the case of Platinex v. Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation. The judge ruled in favour of the First Nation, setting conditions upon further exploration work in the area and criticizing the Ontario government for not fulfilling its obligations with respect to consultation. The judgment directs the First Nation to immediately set up a consultation committee that will meet with representatives of the company and the Ontario government. Click here for copy of judgment.
