I am working on tools.osm4wiki@tools-bastion-13 and I am using the good old editor "joe" because I am used to WordStar since the times of CP/M. Today there was a change in the bastions and joe is not available anymore. Please re-install it for me. I have urgent work to do on my tool.

The relevant change seems to be https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/puppet/+/1058654
T371505#10032215 indicates there is still an old bastion (which probably is the one that had joe installed) at login.tools.wmflabs.org but it will be shut down soon.
Just mentioning this because it could unblock you for the urgent work tomorrow.
I can't speak for the actual installation of joe on the new bastion at login.toolforge.org. The wmcs team will have to comment on the longer term answer.
(Now only reachable via login-buster.toolforge.org, the other domain was changed earlier today.)
Thank you very much! I changed from "login.toolforge.org" to "login-buster.toolforge.org" and joe is available again.
No, staying on an already-discontinued operating system version indefinitely is not a permanent solution.
OK, so please install "joe" on the permant operating system and then tell me how to login.
