A similar plea by the woman was dismissed by the Bombay High Court on July 24 on the grounds that the petitioner was unable to make her case seeking stay on the release of the movie. The court had further observed that none of the acknowledged descendant of Sanjay Gandhi had raised an objection to the movie.

Madhur Bhandarkar's directorial film Indu Sarkar is based on 1975-77 Emergency period and has already had its troubles with CBFC, which demanded 14 cuts in the moveie.

The Indian Youth Congress are meeting the CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani to demand a ban on Indu Sarkar, as according to them, the film distorts the image of Indira Gandhi and her governance during the Emergency period. Though director Madhur Bhandarkar was unavailable for a comment, the Mumbai Police has provided him special security.
