You do not need to be an educator to edit. You only need to be bold to contribute and to experiment with the sandbox or your userpage. See you around Wikiversity! --Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 02:04, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Curator

I've added you to the Wikiversity:Curators group. You are welcome to delete pages when appropriate as part of your clean-up efforts. Thanks for helping support Wikiversity! -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 00:59, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Dave Braunschweig: thanks so much, but are you sure? I have less than 200 edits here --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 01:01, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Quality over quantity, and you are well-trusted on other projects. Note: Curator mostly adds delete rights. It's not Custodian / Admin status. That requires community approval. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 01:05, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I see that - I think the rollback will be the most handy; I'm a bit leery of using delete if I cannot revert myself if I make a mistake, since curators don't have undelete rights (which, per WMF legal, require community approval). --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 01:08, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Dave Braunschweig: what exactly does the phrase "Undo all revisions. Resource is empty, but not deleted" mean - that it should be deleted? That it shouldn't be deleted? That after a certain amount of time it can be deleted? Thanks, --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 08:39, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
That phrase means the last editor removed all content. If the editor was the original (and only) author, we can speedy-delete the page as author request. If there are other authors, it may be vandalism to be reverted, or it may require further discussion. There have also been some rare occasions where authors have returned years later and tried to blank all of their contributions. That wasn't well-received. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:07, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is there some cutoff (a month? three?) after which the page should be deleted? --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 04:37, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
It depends on the circumstances. Wikiversity:SPEEDY allows for immediate deletion. There is also {{Prod}}, which allows for a 90 day deletion. Sometimes, replacing the content with a redirect or an {{Advise}} is more appropriate. Advise entries are typically deleted by bot after 30 days. I try for a balance between common sense and Wikiversity:Please do not bite the newcomers. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 13:41, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

My talk page

Please stop edit warring on it, and please unprotect it. I've asked you on simplewiki, and on IRC, not to edit war with LTAs, which, as I had mentioned, do absolutely nothing but violate WP:DENY, increase your edit count, and spam the subject with notifications. I am not the only person who has asked you this. Stop. Vermont (discusscontribs) 23:39, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

My intention was not to edit war, but to block the user after my first revert. I hadn't realized that curators couldn't block. The page has already been unprotected. Sorry --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 00:13, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
You made three reverts. Regards, Vermont (discusscontribs) 00:28, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Managerial Economics

FYI, Managerial Economics is a real-world, large scale course project being created by upper-division students. They are expected to edit each other's content as they add their own. Please follow up with User:Nonto19 and see if it's possible to re-integrate the reverted content[1]. It's a very dynamic page this weekend, with an apparent due date coming. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:42, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Dave Braunschweig: thanks for the note. Will do --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 15:34, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Custodian

Welcome as custodian![2] Please update WV:staff when you get a chance. You can add as little or as much info as you are comfortable with. --mikeu talk 02:24, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Mu301: thanks --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 02:49, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Comments on CU

Hi Danny, @Dave Braunschweig: and @Mikeu:,

It is not appropriate for me to comment directly on a vote I am involved in. However, I think your proposal is reasonable. I said at the outset that people with large cross-wiki experience and certainly checkusers and stewards would see this and may comment or vote. Their opposes are not directed at either @Koavf: or myself, but more against whether or not EN Wikiversity has the demonstrated need for these tools to be extended to it. At this point I am not sure much will change on this. So letting it go a little while longer seems reasonable, but a stop has to be done at some point soon. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 23:45, 6 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Faendalimas: glad to know that I have your support if I close it. --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 23:54, 6 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
We need to have 25-30 votes in support. We're not even half way there yet. We can leave it open a bit longer, but I don't think it will change anything. Perhaps another time. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 00:03, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
We didn't quite get to the thesrshold though we came close. I'd like to thank everyone for offering to help Wikiversity. --mikeu talk 02:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

added interface administrator

I've added interface administrator. Please update. --mikeu talk 01:35, 6 February 2020 (UTC) 01:30, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Mu301: thanks. I have commented at Wikiversity:Notices for custodians#Temporary interface adminship requested (once more) regarding an issue I ran into. --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 06:38, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Protection level

Thanks for correcting the protection level. I'd actually aimed to put it on autoconfirmed+cascading, but I think once you click cascading it also locks in the custodians level protection so I've reduced it back to just autoconfirmed protection, since we've not had an autoconfirmed user vandalise anything in that area yet. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 23:42, 21 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I got an email from someone saying that full protection is too much even without cascading, and I agree. Cascading semiprotection is impossible (can't remember where, but its in some phab task). I suggest just autoconfirmed. --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 23:43, 21 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

interface admin

You've been granted interface administrator for the next seven days. Please post a notice at Wikiversity:Candidates for Custodianship/DannyS712 (interface administrator) if this needs to be extended to complete the tasks. --02:41, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

It should just be the one edit at Special:Diff/2134009, but just in case I won't remove the right for a day or two in case a bug appears or it turns out more is needed. Thanks, --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 02:59, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
That sounds good. Thanks for your efforts! --mikeu talk 03:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

RAYLEIGH22

Hi. I started the Atlantis Location Hypothesis around 11 - 12 years ago. Time gets away from me. I seldom edit it much these days. The underlying ideas that the hypotheses are pinned to are mine. At a point I seemed to have lost control of my own work and so I stepped back. The work has been relegated to a Draft status and so the work will not show up on a search engine, as it was labeled "Fringe Science" and several, I understand, didn't like it. I look at the placement in Draft as a protection action.

The whole idea was to take Plato's Critias and Timaeus Dialogues and relate these to modern science, placing Atlantis EXACTLY where Plato said it existed. The first astounding result was the correlation of of the end of Atlantis as described and the end of the last ice age. Could it be coincidence? Doubtful. The correlation is just too remarkable and sound, especially when looked at from a probabilistic viewpoint. The numbers correlate too closely. So from this point it goes on.

If you have an interest, I would welcome your participation. In the acknowledgments section I acknowledged all who have had a hand in shaping the hypotheses. If you help we can place your name there as well.

So I see where there has been some discussion to move the work out of Draft status. It has been peaceful since it went into a Draft status, but I am not sure who has been working on it, if anybody. It appears that the points have been retained but that the tendency of me to be too wordy is undeniable. However, all the references are there, so if it had been lightly trimmed, I welcome it and thank whoever did it. I may have done some myself, illness, medication and stress does peculiar things to one's mind.

So, let me know what you think. Most do not have the time that it will take to keep vandals out if it is moved out of Draft status. I still work on it from time to time. I hope to continue it as my health was better, but since I am on chemo treatments for Psoriatic Arthritis, which was wreaking havoc with my skeleton, mostly spine, my immune system is weakened as a side effect. Then, along come Coronavirus and starts its death toll, so I am scared as I am 68 and a good candidate to die if I should contract it. I shall check back in a day or so to see what you think, if you want to discuss. Thank you for your efforts, DannyS712

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what you are asking of me --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 19:32, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can you strikethrough my edit

Link - https://en.wikiversity.org/w/index.php?title=Christian_apologetics&action=history

I made the first one without realizing only teachers could use this resource's main pages. Then I made the other because I thought it would be alright to simply undo it, but now I'm not sure. Can you strikethrough the edits, please?--HalMartin (discusscontribs) 23:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@HalMartin: I'm not sure what you mean by strikethrough, but the edit you made was fine and, if you don't want to make it, I'll add the missing period myself. Why do you think you can't edit the page? --DannyS712 (discusscontribs) 23:56, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
By strikethrough, I meant compeletely removing any history of the edit. But I digress. Obviously I was wrong to think I couldn't edit the page, just because I'm not a teacher. I thought that was a requirement to edit. However, I will abstain from editing the page on Christian Apologetics, just because I don't know much about the subject.--HalMartin (discusscontribs) 00:58, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Weird unencyclopedic materials in Heterosexuality_Questionnaire

With threats: "I will kick your ass". and worse.

Lint...

Thanks to my and User:Dave Braunschweig's efforts, this wiki, apart from some highly specific instances is generally clear of Lint errors now.

However, I am leaving a note here, because it was my understanding that there was a 'maintenance' script in use on Wikiversity, that assisted in clearing up some of the simpler Linter concerns, by re-writing or re-coding pages (including some of the obselete tags) specfically.

Asking User:Dave Braunschweig about the MaintainanceBot would be useful, in case it could be implemented on other small wikis to deal with periodic cleanups of minor but otherwsie time consuming 'repairs'.

Of course if you are able to leave comment on the remaining Lint identifed errors on Wikiversity, so it can be made completely Lint free...
