TMNT Adventures and volumes

[edit]

The long and the short of it:

  1. Based on this list, which is from what is considered a reliable source, there are 3 runs and 4 one shots that were published by Archie Comics under the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures. So that is 3 volumes of multiple issues, even if the first and the last were limited series.
  2. "Volume" is used with regard to any publication that recycles a title. Generally it is appled to:
    • Runs of more than one issue;
    • Runs that start with a number "1"; and
    • Recycling a title exactly aside from leading infiniatives.

My bad. For someone who knows the TMNT as well as I do, I am ashamed to admit I didn't know about that miniseries. It came out around the same time Image's Volume 3 started, so I assumed there was confussion there.
As for the volume number consideration, the practice is not universal to count miniseries, which are intended to end after a set number of issues, along with ongoing series, especially if they have a prominent subtitle, as "Year of the Turtle" does. But I get the feeling that it's a comics Wikiproject standard. As such, I won't change the first TMNT and Mutanimals minis, but I think we should label the last mini as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures: Year of the Turtle, as it appears that is the miniseries' full title. oknazevad (talk) 18:38, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Adding "(mini)" or "(limited)" tends to be too much information for a navigation box. And I'm inclined to quibble about including a title that only exists as part of the trade dress - "The Year of the Tutrtle" isn't part of the indicia - but I'm starting to bang my head against a goof on my part.
The intent here was to reduce the size of {{Archie Comics}} on most of the pages that were using it. While pursuing that I've dunped in a lot of "added content" - series name changes, the volumes, and dates - that have plumped this up to an awkward size. Especially since there is also List of Archie Comics publications and Category:Archie Comics titles covering the exact same ground. And potentially adding in tons of other titles to the template.
