I see no justification for any of the tags that were just added. The problem of metadata is a well known one, and a quick search in Google can verify that. The article is about a class of software tools and does not advertise any particular product. I've added another external link to an article in LAWPRO. It's a spam advert for one product. It discusses nothing about the general problem of metadata redaction. For one thing it equates this with "removal", when many properties ought to be retained and only some need to be redacted.
Your contribution history (about which I'm required to WP:AGF) is focussed entirely on this one article, the one company's product this links to, and adding links to this page into other articles. WP:COI may be relevant here.
The addition of this article as a link to metadata discussed it as if stripping metadata was the only issue involved in document redaction, when the reality is anything but, as there are several embarassing case histories around to demonstrate. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:26, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The article title is "Metadata Removal Tool" and that exactly what it discusses. Your claim that "It's a spam advert for one product." is baseless as no particular product is mentioned.
My contribution history and the articles I focus on are completely irrelevant. The article does not links to any product, but to a relevant white paper which shows that the implications of metadata to privacy and confidentiality are not theoretical ones.
I've not changed the article on metadata apart from linking the phrase "Metadata Removal Tools" to this article. Feldermouse (talk) 17:06, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I as a potential user of such tools would be looking for links of such tools. For instance are there any FOSS or/and open-source tools which remove metadata ? If yes, please link them. Shirishag75 (talk) 17:31, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

list of software

[edit]

Please add list of software that can perform this task, maybe separated by public domain/free and commercial. -- THANKS -- Michael Janich (talk) 13:15, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can appreciate that there is SOME useful info in the link. The problem is that it takes you to the commercial site and the "article" exisits to do nothing other than promote their product. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.197.144.134 (talk) 21:49, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Two links I've added were removed:

Why? What's wrong with them? MaCobNi (talk) 16:11, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell us what they add to the article? WP:EL --VVikingTalkEdits 13:30, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The first link has a list of metadata removal software, stating main features and price. Useful for comparison. The second link is to a paper with a pretty thorough coverage of the subject. Both give added value to the wikipedia article. MaCobNi (talk) 13:51, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
One is a blog and the other was a random link to a random paper. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:54, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Chrissy, I don't see how they add to the article. VVikingTalkEdits 14:03, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
