Combined Currituck Outer Banks

[edit]

Should we combine all the articles for all the small towns that are part of Currituck's Outer Banks? This would put Corolla and Corova together in one article. This would still be a manageable amount of information under the title "Currituck's Outer Banks", or something like that. Dan 04:33, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My two cents is not to combine Corolla and Corova into a Currituck Outer Banks article. The reason is that people who vacation in Corolla know that placename and might not even know what Currituck County is. Therefore, I think combining the two would make it more difficult to find information about either place. 65.40.167.169 17:27, 2 December 2006 (UTC) Maslin[reply]

I concur with Maslin - recommend keeping them separate.

Realtors?

[edit]

I made some changes to the development section because it referred to realtors, who are members of a professional association. The writer may have meant real estate agents (who are people licensed by the state to broker real estate transactions, etc), but I didn't see any citations for this section. Can someone clarify? 65.40.167.169 17:28, 2 December 2006 (UTC) Maslin[reply]

pronunciation of corolla

[edit]

Indeed, most folks in and around Corolla (I live and work here at the Outer Banks) agree with the statements in the article about the pronunciation of the town's name. However, the corolla, as it pertains to a flower, is correctly pronounced "cor-ah-lah", OR "cor-o-lah", according to all the dictionaries I have access to. Perhaps the original, English townfolk pronounced it "cor-ah-lah", or perhaps both ways. What definative proof is there that this is what those original folks intended? Or does the current opinions of all folks decide this, and overrule any earlier evidence? Just because most people (I do not count myself among them) believe the correct pronunciation is "cor-ah-lah", does that make it stand? Thank you for listening. ann p.Lovescats252 (talk) 05:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
