Kamran Najafzadeh (Persian: کامران نجف‌زاده) (also written as Kamran Najaf Zadeh) is an Iranian journalist and producer who works for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.[1] He gained recognition for introducing a fresh approach to news reporting, emphasizing narrative storytelling instead of the conventional methods used by IRIB news. Having embarked on news missions in France and the United Nations, he currently holds the position of a producer in Tehran.[2][3]

Early life

Kamran Najafzadeh was born on 19 May 1979 in Tehran’s Sattarkhan neighborhood.[citation needed] He is married and has one son. He has a bachelor's degree in Genetic Engineering and a master's degree in theatre.

Career

Prior to entering Iranian television, Kamran Najafzadeh was a journalist at a number of newspapers including Arman and Keyhan Sports.[4]

On 26 March 2011, Najafzadeh was expelled from France. While the French government never released a public statement about this event his hiring agency, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, claimed it was because: “the French Ministers of the Interior and Foreign Affairs decided, during a meeting, that “the IRIB News reporter had crossed the yellow line and stirred up hatred in public opinion French public”.[5][6]

Kamran Najafzadeh was among the inaugural hosts of the IRIB 20:30 show. This program was initially launched to intensify the coverage of the presidential election in Iran, featuring semi-official political news that typically remained off-limits for national television broadcasts.[7]

Only one day from the release of Jason Rezaian from the Evin Prison by Iranian authorities, on 16 January 2016, Najafzadeh's visa was issued by the United States government.[8] This raised speculation on a potential agreement behind the scene between the Iranian Government and Obama administration. Najafzadeh has a C2 single entry visa to the United States and were not able to move further than 25 miles from the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York City.[8]

Famous interviews

Najafzadeh conducted several interviews with famous sport celebrities and political and religious figures including Larry King, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and Nasser Hejazi. His report about smallest school of the world also has been one the highlights in his career. [9]
