Meucci in list of Italian inventors

Nothing will be gained by deleting Meucci from the the List of Italian inventors. He was in fact an inventor and had patents for other things. Meucci's attempt to invent an electrical telephone was a failure, but the same can be said of Reis. Meucci belongs in a list with the other telephone pioneers, even though he was not the inventor of the first successful electrical telephone. Greensburger (talk) 01:30, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Polygraph Page

Why do you revert back to the biased polygraph intro submission:

The polygraph was invented in 1921 by John Augustus Larson, a medical student at the University of California at Berkeley and a police officer of the Berkeley Police Department in Berkeley, California. According to Encyclopædia Britannica, the polygraph was on its 2003 list of the 325 greatest inventions.[1]

Polygraphy is rejected by certain members of the scientific community because they consider it to be pseudoscience .[2] Nonetheless, polygraphs are in some countries used as an interrogation tool with criminal suspects or candidates for sensitive public or private sector employment. US federal government agencies such as the FBI and the CIA and many police departments such as the LAPD use polygraph examinations to interrogate suspects and screen new employees. Within the US federal government, a polygraph examination is also referred to as a psychophysiological detection of deception (PDD) examination.[citation needed]

First of all, the citation "1" goes back to a Polygrapher's website -- hardly unbiased. Why not allow the citation to go back to Britannica?

Secondly, by not giving context to what constitutes a "great invention," a disservice is done to the Wikipedia community because the quote in its current context appears to equate "great" with "good," and certainly not something that Brittanica intended.

Why not a compromise and allow a quote from the NAS study, which can be viewed as the scientific consensus?

Omaha Beach revert

May I wonder, why you reverted back changes to the Omaha Beach page to the version with deleted image and non-informative photo? If the wide image template doesn't match there, just notify that to change to regular image or reduce it's size.

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. edits to flag folding procedures

Hi, I attempted to remove confusing text which was misleading people about the truth on why the flag is folded and signifigance of the flag. it was too easy to skip thru one sentence and then read the nonesense religious meanings some people have ascibed to each fold. I clarified it and you have since stated you have undone the clarification. I invite you to read thru it again and reconsider. It is especially misleading as not all service members are Christians or Jewish...and certainly no self respecting Aethist would want their casket covered with someone else's religious beleifs.

Paper clip

I was a bit surprised to find that my attempt to summarize the contents of the article was deleted. Since a fair share of this article and its Norwegian counterpart was contributed by myself, I can't help my (illegitimate) feeling of some ownership to the contents. I therefore keep an eye on it from time to time. Most revisions are done by vandals and will usually be deleted quickly. But this last deletion (partial, since one piece of information was reinserted) is not self-evident. In april of 2009, user Thumperward added this tag to the heading:

Our friend Magnagr has repeatedly been warned about pushing this & similar material at Radio and other articles, and has been blocked at least once for edit warring. I count four insertions today. Maxim

I put a response to your comments on the Maxim talk page. To be frank I'd hoped we could avoid imposing any specific dialect as he was a great man, regardless of origins. But your perception of a country that "steals other countries inventions" was quite intriguing. Maxim's story shows he struggled for recognition at first in Britain; he tried to sell his MG to the British Army on an exclusive basis but they were not interested! Thus it was sold to various European armies and navies before the Army bought it. On the broader topic, for decades the general perception in Britain is that the flow of intellectual capital is generally westward; it even has its own expression: "Brain drain". But by removing your American English tag I was trying to avoid getting into a dispute over "claims". Bad Reference Link

April 7th 2012: Subject -- Reference #130 ^ a b "CSCI 321- Software Project School of Information Technology & Computer Science". University of Wollongong. -- It does not link to a page, and I have not found anywhere else on the Internet that it states the same claims as it does on this page: "Timeline of United States inventions (1946–1991)" in the section called "1960 Global navigation satellite system" - I have not seen the claim made anywhere else that it was "under the leadership of Richard Kershner" - I'm not saying it's false. it's just that there is a faulty reference here. discussion re. images at Sex positions

Hi there,

I don't know if you're watching this discussion. I have been attempting to address the problem of the overuse of Seedfeeder's illustrations by uploading & including historical/art images, but of course there are many, many fans of Seedfeeder's "work" who are passionately opposed to the use of anything that doesn't look like a porn still or something out of a sex manual (and also anything that doesn't reflect a dominant, male heterosexual viewpoint). I could really use some support there (if you have time & are so inclined) for my changes, though so far I have only added a few and haven't removed anything, as that would only cause an edit war right now.

Anyhow, not sure you're still interested but thought I'd let you know.

As a former family mediator, I note your concern. It may be helpful to know that children can and do enjoy sexual experiences from an early age (remember when you were young): apparently, middle class families at the turn if the 19/20 century routinely used sexual stimulation as well as administering gin during infant teething. In fact most children do experience sexual urges during pre-adolescence. Young girls may masturbate by sitting and rocking, boys by laying face down (which may be why we guys are obsessed by motor cars?) Wet dreams are common for boys, and many quite naturally progress to conscious masturbation and experimentation with mutual masturbation, which immature conduct is simply pleasurable and transient and quite distinct from incipient homosexuality or promiscuity which is what many parents fear. In general it is best to ignore the naughty/bad behaviour, and reward the wanted conduct - but yes, I know how hard it is to look the other way when burning with fear or anger! Hy: Mistakes by american inventions, for example the tractor

As a German writer i have to say, not all things were invented in US. For example the tractor were not an American invention. American writers should be more careful with their writings.
