Investcorp edits

edit

Hi. I wonder if you could take a look at Investcorp. It was tagged today as spam, but when I checked the history it appears to have been a non-spam article before some anon edits. I've reverted the few most recent, but as you were the last registered user editing it could you take a look at the edits following yours (that I've left)? They've done things like changing "Asset Management" to "Hedge Fund" but since as far as I know a hedge fund is your savings to buy garden plants I can't determine whether it should be reverted all the way back to your edit; you seem to understand the terminology! Thanks, Tonywalton  | Talk 14:46, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

All I did was to restore the category, which appears to have been removed by a sloppy edit. I'm no investment specialist, nor do I want to enter into an anonymous edit war. Bwpach 17:09, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I misread the edit history. I'll leave it as it is, then. Regards, Tonywalton  | Talk 17:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I noticed you have uploaded some Scouting-related images without using the {{non-free media rationale}} template. You will probably get automated messages about this. Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:The Bronx.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:The Bronx patch.jpg. The copy called Image:The Bronx patch.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 19:44, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Psychomanteum

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Psychomanteum, because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Thanks for uploading Image:Manhattan patch.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Knox Trail Council patch.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Knox Trail Council patch.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Saint Categories

edit

I noticed you have been moving articles from the category Ancient Roman Saints to Saints by century. I don't think that Ancient Roman Saints is a parent category, as it describes where the saint is from, not when. A saint from ancient Rome is not the same as a saint from modern-day Italy. --Bwpach (talk) 15:22, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are in a few "Ancient Saints" that are not "Ancient Roman Saints," but we do not yet have a Category:Ancient Christian saints or any better parent category. Note well this CFD in progress on Ancient Christianity.
I am also emptying Category:Ancient Roman saints as go because (1) it was never use with any one consisten meaning (2) if it was used as you propose it would be an ennormous list needing spitting up anyhow and (3) most of the page put in Ancient Roman Saints were put there by me, so that I could latter find them and put them in Saints by century, and include non-Roman saints.
All my change are to place them in the correct century. You can let me know if you do see an errors in century.--Carlaude (talk) 22:17, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Categorization

edit

Hello. Thank you for the valuable categorization work you're doing. I'd humbly request that you take a little more time to categorize articles a little more precisely than you are currently doing. It's important to be mindful of a few things:

I hope I don't sound too patronizing, this is not my intention, but you'll do a better and more complete job if you go a bit more slowly. Best, Pichpich (talk) 19:05, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

"you'll do a better and more complete job if you go a bit more slowly" – sounds patronizing and douchey.
    • The article St. Clement Seminary does not indicate that it is the United States. In fact, there is a tag that states that this information is missing.
    • As for the article on Timothous Mar Shallita, I read a little bit about him, but I don't know enough about Syriac Christianity to know if he is a member. I'm loathe to make assumptions about other people's religion. And, yes, it's a biographical article, and I could have include the birth and living category, but that certainly would not help access through multiple paths. It's more akin to wikifying, which this article has already been tagged for improvement.
I'm not trying to create a good article, I'm merely contributing to the reduction of a 4 month backlog of uncategorized articles. Bwpach (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

wstitle parameter

edit

Way back in April 2009 you made an edit which linked to a wikisource article. Since then you may well have come across it else where, but this is information in case you have not. Most of the encyclopaedias and encyclopaedia type books on Wiksource have templates that make it easy to access the source. To do this instead of using

you can use:

  • {{1911|wstitle=Aphibole}}

and the template takes care of the rest by creating an inter wiki link in this case

This has several advantages. It uses inter-project links instead of external URLs. If the editors on Wikisource decide to move the book to a new location there is only one template that needs changing for 1,000 of links. If the article does not appear on Wikisource, then it can be entered as a standard parameter title=name with or without a URL Then when the article is ported to Wikisource all that needs changing is "title" to "wstitle". Finally and not least it is easier to type just the article name and an additional "ws" before "title" than typing in "url=http...." -- PBS (talk) 14:51, 9 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Monmouth Council CSP.png

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Monmouth Council CSP.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:06, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
