APRIL SHOWERS
Late afternoon showers popped up Tuesday. It pushed Bakersfield to 0.16" for rainfall. That is great news! It wasn't a record, but now puts us closer to the yearly average amount of rainfall; 3.55". Right now we sit at 2.50". Other notable rainfall totals: the Tehachapi airport had 0.32", Woody 0.28", and Lake Isabella 0.09". Snow levels fell to 4,000'. It has created pacing along the I-5 at times near Frazier Park. School delays picked up this morning for Peak-to-Peak Mountain Charter School and El Tejon. School closures were posted for Tehachapi Unified School District. Light snow flurries are forecast through 10 AM. As for the rainfall, light showers are forecast only 'til 8 AM. There are possible flare-ups this afternoon, as well as tomorrow. I wouldn't expect much, but at least a 20-30% chance.
WINDY WEATHER EXTENDED
The High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory for the eastern Tehachapi mountains and desert areas runs now until 11 AM. NW gusts thru 11 AM up to 55-65 MPH forecast. Even after the timeline it will remain windy all day. Plan on winds dying down by Thursday.
WEEKEND WARM UP
High pressure takes over the region Friday. Temperatures return to the 70s. Then we will rise to the 80s. It is possible this ridge pushes us to the 90s in the middle of next week! Skies will be clear, but get ready for the big warm up.
