Abercrombie) (13 أغسطس 1930 - 3 أبريل 2006) من كبار الكتاب والصحفيين والذي قد عمل لدى مجلة ناشيونال جيوغرافيك. كان ابيركرومبي قد اشتهر بعمله في بلاد الشرق الأوسط. خلال فترة عمله لدى الجمعية الجغرافية سافر إلى قارات العالم السبعة، حيث كان أول مصور صحفي يصل إلى القطب الجنوبي في 1956 بينما يتم تغطية رحلة بول سايبل المصورة لأول شتاء يقضيه في القطب الجنوبي. ومن تغطياته المصورة المثيره تغطيته للبحار جاك إيف كوستو وطاقم عمله من على سطح سفينته كاليبسو وأول نقل للنمر الأبيض من الهند إلى الولايات المتحدة. ابيركرومبي أول صحفي غربي يستطيع تغطية حج المسلمين إلى مكة المكرمة وذلك في مقالته ما وراء رمال مكة المنشورة عام 1966. - Thomas J. Abercrombie (13 Agustus, 1930 – 3 April, 2006) adalah seorang staf penulis senior dan fotografer untuk National Geographic. Terkenal karena kerjanya di negara-negara Timur Tengah. Selama masa jabatannya di majalah Geographic. Abercrombie berpetualang ke semua 7 benua, menjadi staf fotojurnalis pertama berpetualang ke Kutub selatan pada tahun 1956 sambil memberikan gambar untuk sampul Paul Sipledi akhir musim dingin pertama tinggal di Stasiun Kutub Selatan. During his tenure at the Geographic magazine, Abercrombie travelled to all seven continents, becoming the first staff photojournalist to travel to the South Pole in 1956 while providing photographs for Paul Siple's coverage of the first overwinter stay at the South Pole Station. Other notable coverage includes his photographs of Jacques Cousteau and his crew aboard Cousteau's vessel the Calypso and the transit of the first white tiger from India to the United States. Abercrombie was the first Western journalist to cover the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in his article Beyond the Sands of Mecca, published 1966. (en)
