- هي طيات أو صمامات موجودة في الغشاء المخاطي بجانب القناة المرارية، القناة المرارية متصلة بالمرارة إلى القناة الصفراوية المشتركة. وهي تكون مدعومة بألياف عضلية ملساء. هنالك بعض الشكوك حول وظيفة هذه الطيات هي المساعدة على مرور العصارة الصفراوية من المرارة وكذلك تنظيم درجة انتفاخ المرارة. وجود الطيات متحدة مع تعرج القناة المرارية، يجعل من الصعب إدخال المنظار الطبي وقسطرة القناة المرارية. أيضا من الصعوبات التي يواجهها الجراحين تعرض هذه الطيات أو الصمامات للتمزق بشكل كبير، وبفضل التقنيات الحديثة، أصبح هذا الإجراء ممكناً في الوقت الحاضر. ويشار إلى أن هذه الصمامات سميت بهذا الاسم من قبل الجراح الألماني (1683- 1758) (ar)
- Spiral valves of Heister are undulating folds or valves in the proximal mucosa of the cystic duct. The cystic duct attaches the gallbladder to the common bile duct. The spiral valves of Heister are supported by underlying smooth muscle fibers. There is some uncertainty regarding the role of the folds. Historically, physicians believed that their function was to aid in the passage of bile to and from the gallbladder, as well as regulate the degree of gallbladder distension. The presence of the spiral folds, in combination with the tortuosity of the cystic duct, makes endoscopic cannulation and catheterization of the cystic duct extremely difficult. Also, the valves of Heister are susceptible to lacerations and were a serious obstacle to the surgical canalization. Thanks to newer technologies, nowadays this procedure is possible. They were named after German anatomist Lorenz Heister (1683–1758). (en)
- Le valvole a spirale di Heister sono valvole o pieghe ondulate nella mucosa prossimale del dotto cistico. Il dotto cistico collega la cistifellea al dotto biliare comune. Prendono il nome dall'anatomista tedesco Lorenz Heister (1683–1758). Le valvole a spirale di Heister sono supportate da alcune fibre muscolari lisce sottostanti. Ci sono incertezze sul ruolo delle pieghe. Storicamente, i medici ritenevano che la loro funzione fosse quella di coadiuvare il passaggio della bile da e verso la cistifellea, oltre a regolare il grado di distensione della cistifellea. La presenza delle pieghe a spirale, in combinazione con la tortuosità del dotto cistico, rende estremamente difficile l'incannulazione endoscopica e la cateterizzazione del dotto cistico. Inoltre, le valvole di Heister sono suscettibili a lacerazioni ed un tempo costituivano un grosso ostacolo alla canalizzazione chirurgica.
