- Der Saturn Sky ist ein vom US-amerikanischen AutomobilherstellerGeneral-Motors (GM) unter der Automobilmarke Saturn von Frühjahr 2006 bis Sommer 2009 angebotener offener Sportwagen bzw. Cabrio. Er basierte auf der Kappa-Plattform von General Motors und war damit das Schwestermodell von Pontiac Solstice, Daewoo G2X und dem Opel GT Roadster. Der Sky war eines der General-Motors-Modelle, die vom Zündschloss-Debakel betroffen waren. Erstmals gezeigt wurde der Prototyp auf dem Automobilsalon in Detroit Anfang 2005 und als Serienversion ein Jahr darauf. Das Design des Sky entstammt der Feder von Franz von Holzhausen. Die Produktion der 2,4-Liter-Version begann im Frühjahr 2006, im Herbst folgte die leistungsstärkere Variante Sky redline mit Zweiliterturbomotor mit einer Leistung von 194 kW (264 PS), Lamellen-Selbstsperrdifferenzial, Bilstein Sportfahrwerk und verstärkten Stabilisatoren, Doppelauspuff, 18-Zoll-Rädern und geänderter Frontschürze mit zusätzlichen Lufteinlässen zur Radhausbelüftung und Bremsenkühlung. Innen unterscheidete sich der Redline vom Basismodell durch Lederlenkrad mit integrierten Radio-Bedienknöpfen, Lederschaltsack und -schaltknauf, Einstiegsschwellerleisten mit Metalleinsätzen und Ladedruckanzeige im Bordcomputer.

The Sky concept was shown at the 2005 North American International Auto Show, with the production version following at the 2006 show. It was built at GM's Wilmington Assembly plant in Wilmington, Delaware, alongside the Solstice. The Sky featured 18-inch (457 mm) wheels and a 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 engine that produced 177 hp (132 kW), a new straight-4 2.0 L turbocharged direct injected engine that made 260 hp (194 kW) as well as an optional dealer-installed turbo upgrade kit that made 290 hp (216 kW). Both five-speed manual and automatic transmissions were available. The styling for the Sky, penned by Franz von Holzhausen, was based on the Vauxhall VX Lightning Concept's design. It was available in some European markets as the Opel GT. A rebadged version named the Daewoo G2X was unveiled as a concept vehicle for the South Korean market in 2006. The production version was released in September 2007. The Wilmington Assembly plant closed in July 2009, ending production as both the Pontiac and Saturn nameplates were retired. (en)
