- Die Heilige Ritenkongregation (lateinisch Sacra Rituum Congregatio, auch kurz als Ritenkongregation bezeichnet) war bis 1969 eine Zentralbehörde des Vatikans. Papst Sixtus V. begründete 1588 mit der Apostolischen Konstitution Immensa Aeterni Dei die Congregatio pro sacris ritibus et caeremoniis. Die Congregatio caeremonialis wurde im 17. Jahrhundert selbständig und für die Zeremonien der päpstlichen Kapelle und des päpstlichen Hofes zuständig (heute: Amt für die Liturgischen Feiern des Papstes). Die Aufgabe der Ritenkongregation war die Aufstellung von Normen für die Ausübung des Gottesdienstes (Riten) und die Durchführung von Heiligsprechungsprozessen. Papst Paul VI. löste 1969 mit der Apostolischen Konstitution Sacra Rituum Congregatio die Ritenkongregation auf und verteilte ihre Aufgaben auf zwei neue Kongregationen, nämlich die Heilige Kongregation für den Gottesdienst (lat. Sacra Congregatio pro Cultu Divino) und die Heilige Kongregation für Heiligsprechungsprozesse (lat. Sacra Congregatio pro Causis Sanctorum). (de)

Esta congregación discutía, aprobaba o desechaba los nuevos rezos que se querían introducir en la iglesia, los cambios propuestos en los ornamentos y objetos de culto. Entendía y se le sujetaban los procesos relativos a la beatificación y canonización de los nuevos santos. With the modern reforms of Pope Paul VI after the Second Vatican Council, it was divided into the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. - Święta Kongregacja do spraw Świętych Obrzędów, łac. Congregatio pro Sacri Ritibus, została powołana 22 stycznia 1588 przez papieża Sykstusa V, początkowo pod nazwą Kongregacji ds. Świętych Obrzędów i Ceremonii. Kongregacja ta stała na straży porządku w liturgii i sakramentach. Do jej obowiązków należały też sprawy beatyfikacyjne i kanonizacyjne. W początkowym okresie do jej zadań należało też pilnowanie przestrzegania zasad ceremoniału na dworze papieskim, jednak w 1627 papież Urban VIII utworzył w tym celu odrębną Kongregację ds. Ceremoniału. Z kolei po roku 1904 Kongregacja ds. Obrzędów przejęła kompetencje dotychczasowej Kongregacji ds. Odpustów i Świętych Relikwii. W skład Kongregacji ds. Obrzędów wchodziło zazwyczaj po ok. 20–30 kardynałów, kilku prałatów niższych rangą, sekretarz, mistrzowie papieskich ceremonii oraz konsultorzy w sprawach beatyfikacyjnych i kanonizacyjnych. 8 maja 1969 została zlikwidowana przez papieża Pawła VI, który podzielił ją na Kongregację ds. Kultu Bożego i Dyscypliny Sakramentów i Kongregację Spraw Kanonizacyjnych. (pl)

De congregatie werd op 22 januari 1588 met de apostolische constitutie opgericht door paus Sixtus V. De congregatie boog zich over vraagstukken met betrekking tot de liturgie en de sacramenten, terwijl ook de heilig- en zaligverklaringsprocessen aan deze congregatie waren toevertrouwd. Aanvankelijk viel ook de pauselijk ceremoniemeester onder deze congregatie, maar deze werd in de zeventiende eeuw als Congregatio caeremonialis verzelfstandigd. Op 8 mei 1969 voerde paus Paulus VI met de constitutie Sacra Rituum Congregatio een reorganisatie door binnen de Curie. Paulus vond de taken van de Ritencongregatie te omvangrijk om in een enkele dicasterie te worden ondergebracht. Hij hief met deze constitutie derhalve de oude congregatie op en riep tezelfdertijd twee nieuwe congregaties in het leven: de Congregatie voor de Goddelijke Eredienst en de Regeling van de Sacramenten en de Congregatie voor de Heilig- en Zaligsprekingsprocessen.
