- This is a list of the world's busiest seaports by cargo tonnage, the total mass, or in some cases volume, of actual cargo transported through the port. The rankings are based on AAPA world port ranking data. The cargo rankings based on tonnage should be interpreted with caution since these measures are not directly comparable and cannot be converted to a single, standardized unit. In the Measure column, MT = Metric Tons, HT = Harbor Tons, FT = Freight Tons, and RT = Revenue Tons. (en)

On peut mesurer ce trafic à partir de la masse de marchandises échangées, du nombre d'escales ou de la valeur des biens. La presse spécialisée, les institutions internationales et certaines autorités portuaires publient des classements essentiellement basés sur le tonnage, exprimé en tonnes métriques, à ne pas confondre avec la short ton américaine (907,184 74 kg) et la long ton britannique (1 016,046 908 8 kg).(
