- Festival Internacional d'Animació d'Hiroshima és un festival de films d'animació biennal del Japó. Juntament El Festival Internacional de Cinema d'Animació d'Annecy a França, el Festival de Cinema Internacional d'Animació d'Ottawa al Canadà, i el Festival Mundial de Cinema d'Animació de Zagreb a Croàcia, està organitzat i subvencionat per L'Associació Internacional de Cinema d'Animació o ASIFA. Els presidents honoraris actuals del festival són Paul Grimauld, Peter Lord i Nick Park, coneguts pels films El rei i l'ocell i Wallace i Gromit respectivament. Així doncs tan el grup de jutges com els afiliats participen en una votació que conclou amb el premi al millor curtmetratge d'animació, el qual consisteix amb una suma de 1 milió de yens (prop dels 8000 euros) i una possible nominació a la categoria de curtmetratges dels Oscars. Com a molts altres festivals, les projeccions de la multitiud de films que es presenten van acompanyades de xerrades i altres tallers educatius, fet que augmenta la seva popularitat que en els últims anys ja va superar les 30000 persones. - Hiroshima Kokusai Animation Festival (jap. 広島国際アニメーションフェスティバル, Hiroshima Kokusai animēshon fesutibaru, dt. „Internationales Animationsfestival Hiroshima“) ist ein Filmfestival, das seit 1985 in Hiroshima stattfindet. Es ist eines der international bedeutendsten Festivals für Animationsfilme und das wichtigste in Asien. Das Festival wurde von der Association internationale du film d’animation gegründet. Der Austragungsort Hiroshima wurde wegen seiner Geschichte ausgewählt, um „Gedanken der Einheit“ in Form von Kunst zu fördern. Die Festivalleiterin ist seit dem ersten Festival , die auch maßgeblich an der Gründung beteiligt war. Die ersten beiden Male fand das Festival an ungeraden Jahren (1985 und 1987) statt, seit 1990 findet es zweijährlich an geraden Jahren im August statt. Die wichtigste Sektion ist der Wettbewerb. Während 1985 noch etwa 450 Filme eingesandt wurden, um sich für eine Aufführung beim Festival zu bewerben, waren es 2006 über 1.700. Eine internationale Jury, oft aus vormaligen Preisträgern bestehend, vergibt mehrere Auszeichnungen. Von diesen ist der Grand Prix für den besten Kurzfilm am wichtigsten. (de)
- The International Animation Festival Hiroshima is a biennial animation festival hosted in Hiroshima, Japan. The festival was founded in 1985 by Association International du Film d'Animation or ASIFA as International Animation Festival for the World Peace. The city of Hiroshima was one of the sites of nuclear bombings in 1945 at the end of World War II and it was chosen to inspire thoughts of unity through the arts. The festival is considered one of the most respected animated film festival, along with Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, and Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films. The first two festivals were held in odd years: 1985 and 1987. Since 1990, the festival has been held biennially in even years. In 2008, the 12th Festival took place for 5 days (August 7–11). The city of Hiroshima co-hosts the festival, which takes place in JMS Aster Plaza near the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park at the center of Hiroshima city. The founding of the festival is largely credited to Sayoko Kinoshita and her late husband Renzo Kinoshita. The married couple were renowned figures in the independent animation world and also founders of ASIFA's Japan chapter. Sayoko Kinoshita has been the festival director since the first festival and is now also the president of ASIFA. In the festival's first year in 1985, the Grand Prize was awarded to Broken Down Film by Osamu Tezuka. Tezuka became one of the members of the jury for the following festival. This cycle has often repeated and many of the grand prize winners have become judges for the following festival. In 2010, the Festival had nearly 1,937 entries from 58 countries and regions, and had more than 34,516 participants. In November 2020, the city of Hiroshima announced ending its partnership with ASIFA, and plans to replace the festival. (en)
