- L'esofagitis eosinofílica (EEo) és una esofagitis (inflamació de l'esòfag) al·lèrgica que implica els eosinòfils. En individus sans, l'esòfag normalment no té eosinòfils. A l'EEo, els eosinòfils migren a l'esòfag en gran nombre. Quan es menja un aliment desencadenant, els eosinòfils contribueixen al dany i la inflamació dels teixits. Els símptomes inclouen dificultat per empassar (fins i tot amb obstrucció per una bola d'aliments), vòmits i cremor. L'esofagitis eosinofílica es va descriure per primera vegada en nens, però també es produeix en adults. Aquesta malaltia no es coneix bé, però l'al·lèrgia alimentària pot tenir un paper important. El tractament pot consistir en l'eliminació dels desencadenants coneguts o sospitosos i una medicació per suprimir la resposta immunitària. En casos greus, pot ser necessari amb un procediment d'endoscòpia. Tot i que el coneixement sobre l'EEo ha augmentat ràpidament, el diagnòstic d'EEo pot ser un repte perquè els símptomes i les troballes histopatològiques no són específics. (ca)

- Die eosinophile Ösophagitis (EE oder EoE) ist eine immunvermittelte, chronisch-entzündliche Erkrankung der Speiseröhre (Ösophagus) mit dem typischen Symptom einer Dysphagie unterschiedlicher Ausprägung. 1977 wurde sie erstmals beschrieben, und 1978 als eigenständiges Krankheitsbild erkannt. Früher als Rarität angesehen, wird die eosinophile Ösophagitis seit Ende der 1990er Jahre in den industrialisierten Ländern vermehrt diagnostiziert und gilt heute nach der Refluxösophagitis (GERD) als zweithäufigste entzündliche Erkrankung der Speiseröhre. Dies ist einerseits einer besseren Wahrnehmung der Untersucher zuzuschreiben, andererseits einem Anstieg im Vorkommen der Krankheit. Seit 2017 existieren europäische Leitlinien zur Therapie und Behandlung. Eine deutsche Leitlinie steht noch aus, ist aber bei der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Medizinischen Fachgesellschaften e. V. (AWMF) seit dem 27. März 2019 unter der Registriernummer 021-013 angemeldet und soll Anfang 2022 fertiggestellt werden. Die eosinophile Ösophagitis gehört zu den primären eosinophilen Erkrankungen, zusammen mit eosinophiler Gastroenteritis, eosinophiler Colitis und Hypereosinophilie-Syndrom mit gastrointestinaler Beteiligung. In healthy individuals, the esophagus is typically devoid of eosinophils. In EoE, eosinophils migrate to the esophagus in large numbers. When a trigger food is eaten, the eosinophils contribute to tissue damage and inflammation. Symptoms include swallowing difficulty, food impaction, vomiting, and heartburn. Eosinophilic esophagitis was first described in children but also occurs in adults. The condition is not well understood, but food allergy may play a significant role. The treatment may consist of removal of known or suspected triggers and medication to suppress the immune response. In severe cases, it may be necessary to enlarge the esophagus with an endoscopy procedure. - Eosinofiele oesofagitis (EoE), of allergische slokdarmontsteking, is de naam van een allergische chronische ontstekingsziekte van de slokdarm (oesofagus). Bij deze ziekte wordt een infiltratie van eosinofiele granulocyten in de slokdarmwand gezien. Eosinofiele granulocyten zijn witte bloedcellen die betrokken zijn bij ontstekingsreacties, parasitaire ontstekingen en allergische reacties in het lichaam. De naam eosinofiele oesofagitis verwijst dus naar een ontsteking van de slokdarm (oesofagitis) waarbij hoofdzakelijk eosinofiele granulocyten zijn betrokken zijn De eerste beschrijving van dit ziektebeeld dateert uit 1993. Er is dus sprake van een relatief nieuwe diagnose die in Nederland in 2005 voor het eerst beschreven werd. In het Academisch Medisch Centrum te Amsterdam wordt sinds 2011 door een speciaal team onderzoek gedaan naar de aandoening. (nl)
