The 2012–13 New Jersey Devils season was the 39th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 31st season since the franchise relocated from Colorado to New Jersey to start the 1982–83 season. The regular season was reduced from its usual 82 games to 48 due to a lockout. The defending Stanley Cup runners-up were eliminated from the playoff race after a 4–1 loss to the New York Rangers on April 21, 2013.
