How the Surf Map Works
The Surf Spot map was added to the site after feedback from our Forum members. The map is based around Google Maps and the Interface allows members to browse globally right down to actual Surf Spot locations by clicking on highlighted map regions. The way we have developed the map interface means that the exact position of a surf spot can be mapped. In some cases you can even see the breaking wave from the satellite image available. The different surf regions are added by site moderators and the actual surf spots are added by logged in members.

How do I Add a Surf Spot ?
You have to be logged in to add a new surf spot. Browse to the surf spot region associated with your surf spot. Once at the lowest level the option to add a spot will become available. Click the Add Surf Spot link. Adding the spot details is straightforward, just complete the page information (a series of drop down menus and text information boxes) - the more details the better. Zoom right down using the map controls so you can add the spot at precisely the right position.

The Information on Spot 'X' is incorrect, how can I correct it ?
You can edit a spot when you are logged on. This is the best way to ensure that the surf spot information is as relevant, correct and up to date as possible.

What is the Surf Spot Rating about?
The Spot Rating is a general guide on how good a wave is. Members can give spots a rating to help inform others.

Adding an Existing Surf Spot to MYWaves
You can add spots that you have surfed into your profile for all to see. Click the Add to MYWaves link on the surf spot page. This lets you build your own list of surf spots and keeps a record of all your different session locations.

How do I Upload an Image or Video to a certain Surf Spot?
At the bottom of the individual Surf Spot information page there is a Video and Image section. Here you can view any photos or video that users have uploaded to the spot. There is a link to add an Image or Video here. Media uploaded is associated to that surf spot.

What about Secret Spots?
Please do not post Secret Spots. The purpose of the spot map is not to list every spot on the planet but to be a good general listing. If in doubt please do not post a spot.
If a spot has been posted that you consider to be a secret spot please let us know so we can assess it and remove it if necessary.
