Information about Ericeira
Ericeira is a small coastal fishing community just north of Lisbon on the western coast of Portugal. It has been a popular summer destination for families in the region and has recently grown into one of the premier surfing destinations in Europe.
Ericeira Surfing Info and Details
There are many different types of waves in this small region of Portugal. The Atlantic provides swell throughout the year and many of the local breaks can be surfed all year round.
The waves are more powerful in Ericeira and longer than in Peniche, the breaks are less crowded and you have a bigger diversity of bottom types. You should expect some onshore days, but when it is off-shore it´s a dream. If you want to improve your surfing level in summer season it´s surely the best option. Tiago Pires learned how to surf here. Locals have a strong knowledge, it´s cheaper and if you want you catch a bus and visit Lisbon easily.
It always has waves, a lot of surfcamps and the greatest summer party: “SUMOL SUMMER FEST” in June. - soulsurfer
