All statistics correct as of March 30, 2025.

The 2025 Major League Soccer season is the ongoing 30th season of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top professional soccer league in the United States and Canada, and the 47th season overall of a national first-division league in the United States.

MLS expanded to 30 clubs this season with the addition of San Diego FC, an expansion team awarded in 2023.[4] The league's 30 teams are divided into the Eastern and Western conferences, which each have 15 teams. The regular season runs from February 22 to October 18 and comprises 34 matches for each team with a schedule that is primarily intra-conference with 6 inter-conference matches per team.[5] There will be a break for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup in late June but no break for the 2025 Leagues Cup in August.[6][7] The San Jose Earthquakes will host D.C. United on April 6, 2025, in a nod to the inaugural MLS match played by the same two teams, as part of recognition of the league's 30th anniversary.[6]

All MLS games will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass for the third year as part of a ten-year partnership between MLS and Apple Inc. for the broadcast and streaming rights to all MLS and Leagues Cup games, as well as select MLS Next and MLS Next Pro games.[8]

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, hosted by the United States, will take place during the middle of the season and includes MLS participants Seattle Sounders FC and Inter Miami CF.[9] The 2025 edition of the Leagues Cup will take place between July 29 and August 31.[10]

The LA Galaxy are the reigning MLS Cup champions and Inter Miami CF are the Supporters' Shield holders, who set the all-time points record during the 2024 season.

Broadcasting

[edit]

Apple TV, through MLS Season Pass, holds the rights to stream every MLS match around the world via a 10-year deal that started in 2023.[72][73] This is the first season MLS Season Pass will air Sunday Night Soccer, a primetime Sunday game each week that is be available to all Apple TV+ subscribers.[74]

United States

[edit]

This is the third-year of a four-year deal with Fox Sports for the exclusive rights to MLS games on linear television in the United States. Fox Sports will air 34 matches during the 2025 season, with 19 on Fox Sports 1 and 15 on Fox in English. All 34 matches will air in Spanish on Fox Deportes.[75]

This will be the first year DirecTV and Xfinity will hold the right to distribute MLS Season Pass to residential customers via their cable services.[76][74]

FC Dallas and Charlotte FC announced agreements with KDFI and WAXN-TV respectively to rebroadcast matches. These are the first such agreements since 2022.[77][78]

Canada

[edit]

This is the third-year of a four-year deal with TSN and RDS for the exclusive rights to MLS games on linear television in Canada. TSN and RDS will air 41 matches during the 2025 season.[79]

International

[edit]

Internationally, since Apple TV acquired the rights to Major League Soccer in 2023, MLS Season Pass has exclusively aired the MLS outside the United States and Canada. However, in 2025, Major League Soccer announced agreements with SBS in Australia,[80] Dubai TV in the Middle East, TV3 in Spain, Sportdigital in Germany, and SkyK in South Korea to air Sunday Night Soccer matches.[81][82]
