MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Montpelier Police say a homeless man is behind bars after assaulting a woman in her home.

It happened Thursday night just before 9 p.m. at a home on School Avenue.

Police say James Doyle, 35, broke into the home, assaulted the victim, and threatened to kill her if she contacted police.

Officers tracked down Doyle, who they say was uncooperative and denied involvement.

He is being held on $5,000 bail and faces charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, aggravated assault, and violation of conditions.
