Upper Michigan Today is in the greenhouse at Samara Floral Co.
Check out your options for a floral arrangement or custom bouquet.
NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - It’s prime time for growing flowers, and for one Negaunee floral shop owner, adding a greenhouse to the property means a better customer experience.
Upper Michigan Today took its show to Rail St. in Negaunee, where Elizabeth Peterson and Tia Trudgeon met up with Samara Floral Co.’s Shailah Pelto for a look around her greenhouse.
Many florists source their flowers from out of the state, which are no longer fresh when they arrive at the shop.
Pelto grows her own flowers, one block away from her shop on Iron St.
This means you’ll get the freshest product possible and more life out of your bouquet or arrangement.
Pelto walks you through her greenhouse, giving insight into her growing process and how you can harvest or arrange these plants at home.
You can pick up a pre-made flower arrangement at Samara Floral Co., or custom-order one online.
For bigger arrangements and events, Pelto requests at least a two-week notice.
One of her custom options includes a wild garden arrangement.
She demonstrates how she puts one together.
Outside of Marquette County... sunflowers are in peak bloom at Hall Farms in Rock!
You can check it out from 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.
The farm owner expects the prime bloom time to last until the end of next week.
