SYMAITHOS (Symaethus) was a river-god of eastern Sikelia (Sicily).
The Symaithos river had its headwaters in the Nebrodes Mountains of north-eastern Sikelia, and flowed around Mount Aitna (Etna) to enter the Meditertanean Sea south of the town of Katana (Catana). Other personified Sicilian rivers included the Akis (Acis) to the north, Anapos to the south and Krimisos (Crimisus) to the west. The closest river on the Italian mainland was the Kaikinos (Caicinus) of Bruttium.
