WASA decides to shift tube wells to solar energy.
RAWALPINDI -- Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has decided to switch over their tubewells to solar energy in phases.
This decision has been taken to move forward Chief Minister Punjab vision of conservation of energy.
Sources said one tubewell is being shifted to solar energy on experimental basis in first phase. The process of shifting tubewell to solar energy will cost Rs 2 to 3 million. Decision has been taken to give final shape to this project after a meeting with a Denmark firm.
WASA sources said 30 horse power motor is installed in a tube well generally and it will cost Rs 2 million to install solar panel to run this motor.
The remaining tube wells will be shifted to solar energy after the first experiment is carried out successfully.
