Vince: I've no wish to go on like Mugabe.
Byline: NICOLA BARTLETT Political Correspondent
SIR Vince Cable said he did not want to "outlast Robert Mugabe" as he revealed he would step down as Lib Dem leader after Brexit "is resolved or stopped".
Speaking at the National Liberal Club in Westminster, he called for a radical renewal of the party and said he wanted to lead reforms that include letting a non-MP be leader.
He said: "Once Brexit is resolved or stopped and the new rules are agreed that will be the time to hold a leadership election.
"I do not wish to emulate Gladstone who kept going into his mid-80s nor have any wish to outlast Robert Mugabe."
