MCC student show opens Thursday
The Old Courthouse Arts Center, 101 N. Johnson St., Woodstock, will feature artwork from McHenry County College students in the group exhibition, MCC Student Show Select, Thursday, July 18.
MCC Student Show Select is an exhibition of artwork selected from the 2019 MCC Student Art Show. The artists include: Kathryn Beam, Linda Cannizzo, Julia Fisher, Julia Fuhler, Quentin Hunter, Mary Therese Kolodzik, Lily Kreitz, Chris Lozier, Mary Mariutto, Melissa Ragusin, Mike Regan, Josie Rochell, Nicole Wolter, and Johnnie Wong.
Matt Irie and Justin Schmitz, MCC art instructors, are the organizers of the exhibition. Satellite Gallery in the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock is part of a partnership with the Northwest Area Arts Council.
The opening reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18. The public is welcome. The exhibition runs from July 18 to Aug. 15.
Beach Ball Bonanza at Hall Quarry
The Batavia Park District will host Beach Ball Bonanza from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Hall Quarry Beach, 400 S. Water St., Batavia. During afternoon rest periods, swimmers will be able to spend their time enjoying a variety of activities involving beach balls and other pool toys.
Play pool noodle hockey, beach towel volleyball, beach ball basket drop, Hula-Hoop catch and other beach ball related races, relays, and team games.
The first 100 guests will receive a free beach ball, and additional prizes will be awarded to participants throughout the day. The Quarry mascot, Chuck the Duck, is scheduled to make an appearance.
Participation is included in the price of admission. Daily admission is $8 for residents and $11 for nonresidents. For information, call (630) 879-5235 or visit bataviaparks.org.
