In response to the issues associated with the rising costs of mammography, low reimbursement rates and fewer facilities offering mammography services, White Plains Hospital Center (WPHC) opened its first satellite center, the new Women's Imaging Center at Rye Brook.

U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey was the honorary guest at the special pink ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the Rye Brook facility in recognition and support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "We think it most fitting to open the Women's Imaging Center at Rye Brook during the month of October when breast cancer awareness is at its highest. We are particularly honored that Congresswoman Lowey, a steadfast champion of women's health and breast cancer awareness, will join us in celebrating this important milestone in women's health for Westchester County," said WPHC president and chief executive officer, Jon B. Schandler.

The Women's Imaging Center at Rye Brook will provide services completely dedicated to women's health, including both conventional and digital mammography, ultrasound, 3-D Imaging, and bone densitometry. Two female radiologists, Rosalyn Kutcher, M.D. and Marjorie Rosenblatt, M.D, will lead the Center. Dr. Kutcher is a Board Certified Radiologist, a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Clinical Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Dr. Rosenblatt is also a Board Certified Radiologist and a former Assistant Professor of clinical radiology at Columbia University and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.

Also in attendance were New York State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer; Donald E. Degling, Deputy Mayor of Rye Brook; Joshua Lipsman, M.D., Westchester County Commissioner of Health; Robert S. Cypher, Councilman, City of Rye; Marcia Gordon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Westchester Chamber of Commerce; and Catherine Archibald, Regional Vice President, American Cancer Society.
