4 Backing up the System’s Information

CAUTION! The software installation program automatically deletes all data from the hard drive dur-
ing the upgrade process. Do not skip the following steps.

Ê Backing up the User Presets

NOTE The backup process backs up any User Presets, the system settings, the printer
and VCR settings, and the installed options.

CAUTION! Do not use a media that already contains presets on it. The system cannot differentiate preset
files and the wrong presets may be restored. Always use a blank media or delete any previous
saved presets from the media prior to performing the following Steps.

CAUTION! VERY IMPORTANT for systems at 1.0.0 or 1.0.2 software level only! If the system is set up
to use the English (United States) Standard and Format (go to Setups/system/Locale..../
Regional Options to verify), then ask your customer if they have customized the format. If they
have, then you WILL NOT restore the customer application presets later in the upgrade pro-
cess.

FII, Perf 2009 (1.1 SW) Upgd, HD15 Doc No.: 453561393810001 Rev. B Page 6
Backing up the System’s Information

CAUTION! It is advised that you make a backup of the system options. If a wrong choice is made during
this process you could lose the system options. Making a backup of the options will allow you
to restore them if this situation occurs.

CAUTION! If you are asked by the customer to backup their studies to removable media or USB drive, it is
recommended to verify if the customer has the “auto-delete” function turned ON. If it is ON,
turn it OFF before downloading studies and verify that all of the data was properly backed up
before deleting data from the hard drive.

1. Insert the blank CD into the systems DVD drive OR insert a USB memory stick into the
Control Panel USB port.

2. Press <Setup>; the “Setup” window is displayed on-screen.

3. Select the ”Removable Media” tab.

4. Select the Media Type being used.

5. Select “Backup”; the “Backup Settings” window is displayed on-screen.

CAUTION! VERY IMPORTANT for systems at 1.0.0 or 1.0.2 software level only! Application Presets
can only be backed up and restored if the system is set to English (United States) Standard
and Format and the customer has not customized the formats. DO NOT select any of the
“Application Presets” unless the above condition is met. Restoring the Application Presets
when the Standards and Formats for English (United States) have been customized will cause
the issue this software is intended to fix to be restored onto the system.

6. Do one of the following:

• If any of the “Presets:” list boxes show presets, select “Select All” below the
appropriate list boxes, and then proceed to Step 7.
• If any of the “Presets:” list boxes do not show any user presets (boxes are
blank), proceed to Step 7.

7. Select “Start”; the “All system settings will be saved to media except for the ‘DNS
Suffixes’. You may want to write these down by hand.” message appears on-screen.

8. Select “OK”; the backup process begins. The time required for completing the process
varies and depends on the size of the files being backed up.

9. When the process is complete, a “CD/DVD write successfully completed” message

appears and the CD is ejected. Select “OK” and remove the CD.
