Objective:
Students will be able to identify and describe the main parts of a plant and their
functions.
Materials:
1. Greeting and Attendance: Start with a warm greeting and take attendance.
2. Motivation: Show a real plant or a large diagram of a plant. Ask students if they
can name any parts of the plant they see.
3. Objective Sharing: Explain that today they will learn about the different parts
of a plant and what each part does.
1. Direct Teaching:
o Roots: Explain that roots absorb water and nutrients from the soil. Show a
picture or a real example.
o Stem: Describe how the stem supports the plant and transports water
and nutrients. Use a diagram to illustrate.
o Leaves: Discuss how leaves make food for the plant through
photosynthesis. Show different types of leaves.
o Flowers: Explain that flowers are important for reproduction and
attracting pollinators. Show colorful flowers.
2. Interactive Discussion: Ask students questions about each part to check their
understanding.
Activity (15 minutes):
1. Group Work: Divide students into small groups and provide each group with
materials to create a plant model.
2. Art Project: Have students cut out and assemble the parts of a plant using
colored paper. They should label each part and write a short description of its
function.
3. Presentation: Each group presents their plant model to the class and explains
the function of each part.
Assessment (5 minutes):
1. Worksheet: Hand out a worksheet with a diagram of a plant. Students will label
the parts and write a brief description of each part's function.
2. Quiz: A short quiz with multiple-choice questions about the parts of a plant and
their functions.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
1. Review: Summarize the key points of the lesson. Reinforce the importance of
each plant part.
2. Homework: Assign students to draw a plant at home and label its parts. They
